This is a review of the Penn Squall 50vsw 2-speed lever drag conventional reel for use in land based shark fishing. This reel is basically a light weight graphite version of the Penn International V 50w. It is my first conventional reel for shark fishing and I am very impressed. The drag is very smooth, the clicker is loud, and it fits a ton of line on it. It is a great reel for sharks in the 6-10 foot range and is very affordable at only $319.99 currently! I highly recommend this reel if you are shark fishing on a budget. The rod I have it paired with is a Penn International V rated 50-100lbs. I also discuss why I like this reel better than a large spinning reel such as a Penn Spinfisher V 9500. This is not a paid product placement, and I am not affiliated with Penn.
