Great reels! I use 6 30vsw and 2 50vsw for my trolling spread. I use braid though. That's about 1600yds of 80lb braid. Had a wahoo recently that pulled about 400yds before I was able to slow it down and get it turned! That particular fish weighed 105lbs. My biggest wahoo. They are so fast! Hard to beat fresh grilled wahoo steaks!

Nice review, I just picked up a 30vsw and about to get a 50. I'm setting up the boat for trolling. I agree, great reel for the price
How do you like the reel so far? Im doing research now, im leaning towards your reel as well. Any issues? What was the biggest shark you got on it so far?
I have mine with 500 yards of 100 lb braid, topped with 250 yards of 130 lb mono, beast of a reel, of the 10 sharks I've hooked with it, only 2 have gotten away, they all were good sized, 8 foot+, 1 that got away broke off because my leader was kinked, they other broke off because it got me into structure, tank of a reel though
Thanks for the review man! Super helpful
do you know how many yards of braid and mono you have on the 50vsw
I just got a penn senator 14/0 it's only got about 35 pounds of drag but holds 1500 yards of 100 pound braid with a 100 yard top shot of mono I haven't caught anything monster on it but I've seen people who have does it sound good?
I just put 750yds 130lb JB hollow with 180yds 100lb momoi mono on my squall 50vsw.
Pb lets go out sharking what part of sw florida do you live
great review, but that reel puts out 40lb at full with free spool. it will put out more drag but you will start to loose free spool as you gain more drag, hope that helped. look forward to more videos!
I just order one. My Little 4/0 can only handle so much
when land based shark fishing can I use just straight 100 lb braid on my penn 50 or mono braid combo
Did you take a scale and check your #'s of drag? You said you were a spinning reel guy so you may not have known about how to set the drag. You could really only be at 10lb at strike and 22lb at full(just an example).
How big of a shark could you catch on this?
Would 100lb braid with 80lb mono on top be a good set up?
Will a 60ld work ok for shark?
Why use such big line when ur drag is only 40lbs, 65lbsbraid and mono will give u more line
30-40 pounds is plenty most people can't even hold a rod with 60-80 pounds of drag lol
