🟢 2% Tornado Risk: Oklahoma City, OK, Dallas, TX, Fort Worth, TX, Waco, TX, Richmond, VA

📊 What the Percentages Mean
A 5% tornado risk means there is a 1 in 20 chance of a tornado occurring within 25 miles of you. This is a moderate tornado threat, particularly across northwest TX and southern OK where supercells could produce a few tornadoes, some near the dryline/front intersection this afternoon.

📝 Overview
A regional severe weather outbreak is expected across northwest Texas and southern Oklahoma, including a threat for giant hail, destructive wind gusts (80–100 mph), and tornadoes. Storms are expected to initiate along the dryline and cold front this afternoon, quickly becoming supercells before evolving into one or more damaging MCSs tonight. Farther east, the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast will see scattered damaging wind threats and isolated tornado potential, especially across VA and NC.

⛈️ Hazards Include
🧊 Giant hail (up to 3–5” possible in supercells across western OK/northwest TX)
💨 Destructive wind gusts (80–100+ mph possible with evening MCSs)
🌪️ A few tornadoes, especially early in the event while storms remain discrete

🕓 Timeline
🕒 2–5 PM CDT: Supercell initiation along dryline/front in eastern TX Panhandle and western OK
🌆 5–9 PM CDT: Peak tornado and large hail threat; initial supercells track into southern OK/north TX
🌒 9 PM – 2 AM CDT: MCS organization accelerates southeastward; destructive wind threat spreads toward the ArkLaTex

📌 Regional Notes
🔴 Northwest TX/Southern OK: Most favorable zone for strong supercells, giant hail, and a few tornadoes
🟠 Central TX into the ArkLaTex: Expect wind-driven bowing segments into late evening
🟡 VA/NC/MD: Scattered storms may organize enough for damaging wind gusts and a brief tornado
🟡 SC/NC Coast: Coastal clusters with strong winds possible through mid-afternoon

⚠️ Stay Weather-Aware
If you’re in or near Wichita Falls, Lawton, Abilene, or the Red River Valley, this is a dangerous severe weather day.
Ensure your devices are charged, warnings are enabled, and you have a shelter plan ready, especially from mid-afternoon onward.
