Students on their feet: This is how they repress those who dare to protest in Cuba.

The university community continues to criticize the ETECSA rate hike. Alex Otaola released an audio recording in which a student from the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) summarizes the threats they received after protesting and issuing a statement.

Cuban universities are in turmoil. ETECSA's brutal price hike has triggered a wave of protests that has shaken institutions such as the University of Havana, Las Villas, Guantánamo, and the ISA art school.

But the regime's response has been as expected: intimidation, threats, manipulation, and propaganda. From pulling students out of their rooms at 11 PM for interrogations to manipulative conversations with rectors who try to suppress outrage using slogans such as "revolutionaries forever."

The FEU (Federal University of the University of Havana), the UJC (Youth Youth University), and university structures are aligned with those in power. What young people are beginning to discover is that they have no allies within the system. That any real change will not come from within, nor from the theater of assemblies, but from the streets.

Is this movement being used to show the world a false sense of controlled dissent? Will it serve as a political tool to justify dialogue with the regime? Or are we witnessing the awakening of a new generation?
