A female polar bear once swam continuously for nine days, covering 687 kilometers across the icy Beaufort Sea, north of Alaska. This remarkable swim was part of her search for food and a suitable resting place. Scientists tracked the bear's journey using a radio transmitter, and a video of her swim surfaced on social media, highlighting the challenges polar bears face due to melting sea ice.
But that wasn't all. She then walked and swam an additional 1,800 km, losing around 20% of her body weight during the journey to find a new ice floe.
