The History of Asian Representation in Film

We’re experiencing a horrible wave of violence against Asian Americans. A lot of blame has been placed at the feet of former President Trump, for good reason. But harmful, vilifying stereotypes of Asian people, go way back, and they’re so pervasive…that they’ve become movie tropes.

Nancy Wang Yuen, Associate Professor of Sociology at Biola University, spoke to us about the long history of how Asian women are represented in Western media.
