This is a short for That's Not My Neighbor by Nacho Sama. A game where you need to spot the doppelgangers pretending to be neighbors. Imagine Papers Please but as a horror game!
In this short I have a game theory and some game lore about the numbr you have to dial to summon the D.D.D
Believe it or not but the DDD's phone number has a big secret in that's not my neighbour
Hear me out
If you don't know, every time you find a doppleganger that's not your neighbour, you have to call the number 3312 to summon the Department of Doppleganger Detection. But why?
Well Firstly, in the new Steam version of the game, you don't need to call them to summon them. However, if you do dial their old number, you get this easter egg where they pretend that it's not them!
But they're lying! Because the number actually comes from a well known movie.
If you remember in Monster's Inc, if there's anything foreign that touches a monster, the code for quarantine is 2319... but that's not the DDD number, I hear you saying. Shutup, I'm getting there.
Because it's actually in the Spanish version of the movie that the creator watched where the number is changed from 2319 to 3312. Subscribe for more.
That's not my Neighbor is a 2D job simulator and horror game created by Nacho Sama. It was released on February the 24th, 2024 and March 11 on Steam and is exclusively playable on Microsoft Windows. It's available for a small price on its itch.io page. The game is currently incomplete and is still being worked on. The game was inspired by Papers, Please, but with a horror twist.
In the year 1955, monsters with the ability to mimic humans called doppelgangers have become an everyday nuisance. As the new doorman of your apartment building it is your job to discern sneaky doppelgangers who wish to infiltrate from regular tenants just looking to go home. But careful! Should you fail both you and the tenants are going to be on the menu.
From The Game Page:
The Doppelganger Detection Department (D.D.D.) needs you!
There is a vacancy for the doorman position in your building and since you need the money and can't find a job you have no choice.
It's 1955 and for unknown reasons doppelgangers are more common than normal, so the D.D.D. has taken action on the matter.
Your job will be to allow or deny the entry of the subjects who request entry to the building, it seems easy, but be careful, you can't overlook any detail because you could be food for doppelgangers.
A 'Neighbor' Is the in game term for the human residents at the building the player works at. These are who the doppelgangers are posing as. It is the players responsibility to allow the real neighbors through while deterring the doppelgangers.
Neighbors are actual humans, who are harmless and normal. Neighbors can forget items such as hats, their information and their entry pass. When questioned about the forgotten items, neighbors will hand over identification.
