Bull Shark on Spinning Tackle from the Beach

Another great evening of land based shark fishing. We set out 4 lines at sunset with a variety of baits including catfish, mullet, and Spanish mackerel. We had a slow night on the 50w reels, but eventually my surf rod got picked up. The shark did not fight at first, but eventually woke up and took some huge runs. Fifteen minutes later we had a nice bull shark on the sand. It is tons of fun landing these sharks on spinning tackle. Some friends of mine who were fishing beside us also caught a 9' hammerhead shark, which was exciting. The sharks were quickly dehooked and swam off very strong. We encourage all viewers to practise catch and release methods when shark fishing and to use circle hooks.
