Hammerhead Shark on SPINNING Gear from the Beach!

Epic night of shark fishing! We set out to the beach in search of some big sharks right at sunset. We had two 50ws out with big baits looking for big sharks, and a spinning rod out with a mullet trying to catch a blacktip shark. The first rod that went off just after sunset was the spinning rod. At first, we thought it was a blacktip shark as it was taking very fast runs. It continued to do this for 20 minutes on lock down drag, and we soon realized that we were dealing with a much more powerful shark. I took over on the rod and fought it for a half hour before getting tired. I then passed the rod to Chris, in an attempt to put more pressure on the fish and get it in quicker as he was fresh and not tired like I was. After about 45 minutes we finally got the shark to the beach. The shark was not removed from the water, was dehooked, and quickly released to ensure that it swam off healthy. Incredible night of land based shark fishing!
