Water Bath Canning is simple... Here are 6 easy steps to follow 👇🏻
1. Fill a large pot with water, place a dish towel or wire rack in the bottom of the pot, and set on high to boil.
2. Clean & sterilize jars and lids. ALWAYS make sure jars are warm/hot when putting hot contents in and placing in a hot canner or glass will shatter.
3. Fill jars with contents, only things with specific acidity’s are able to be safely waterbath canned rather than pressure canned, we sure to get your recipes from a reputable source.
4. Leave enough headspace in jars and wipe finger around the rims to check for cracks or stuck residue. Don’t use jars with cracks or chips on top or they won’t seal properly. Wipe rims with hot rag to be sure they’re clean. Add lids & rings on finger tight.
5. Gently place jars into pot, be sure jars are submerged with 1-2 inches of water above lids. Boil for the amount of processing time on your recipe.
6. Gently remove jars (I like to place them on a towel to keep jars from breaking when touching the cold countertop), let set for 12-24hrs to seal and cool. Remove rings, label, and store.
