In My Hero Academia while we follow the story of Deku after he meets All Might, there’s actually a character named Koichi who was created by Horikoshi and Furuhashi the author of My Hero Academia Vigilantes, and the whole concept around his character was What if Izuku Midoriya had never met All Might, and the story took place when Deku was a little older, but not yet a complete adult. This ended up being an interesting enough concept to inspire an entire spinoff manga, and Furuhashi tells us that in the story of Vigilantes, Koichi himself is a really kind and accepting man that has always lived in not so safe areas of Japan, but because of this he’s cool under a lot of situations where your average person wouldn’t be. Koichi is the kind of guy who is REALLY good at communicating with people who live in the underside of society but aren’t completely bad, and finding common ground between them and himself that allows everything to work out in the end, which the author says is exactly what qualifies Koichi to be a hero even though he chooses to be a vigilante. For his vigilante Costume koichi wears special edition All Might sweaters and he even has rarer ones than you’d find in Deku’s collection, but the last thing you need to know about this character is he gets REALLY powerful, and might sit within the top 5 of all MHA characters, but to learn how you need to watch more.
