I used to get perturbed about the future and fill my head with fearful thoughts. I would worry about my financial situation, my career, and just about anything in my life. I used to think that the only way to overcome these trepidations about the future is to get ahead in life.

Quitting The Rat Race

But will participating in the rat race really eliminate all of my anxieties and trepidations? When things get overwhelming, and it feels like a constant race to the finish, I choose to do the exact opposite. I slow down. Instead of getting caught in this society's collective energy of desiring to be better, richer, more powerful, more influential, and more "secure".

Finding Peace In A Simple Life

I choose to find peace and resolve in a simple, slow and intentional way of life. I don't live off the grid, I still pay the rent. I have a child and myself to support financially, and I don't grow my own food. Thus, I have recurring bills to pay.

And just like most people who need to work to afford their basic needs. However, by adopting a simple, slow and intentional lifestyle, I also pulled away from being a constant worrier. I no longer stress out so much about my finances the future and the volatility of the global economy and the volatility of the global economy.

As long as I maintain a balance between saving and spending my money that keeps things in perspective. We all have the freedom to live our life the way we want to, and we are capable of creating our own happiness and suffering. The choices we make determine our life's design.
