HIFF Premiere: Shaka A Story of Aloha | The Shaka Movie

Join us as we celebrate the premiere of Shaka: A Story of Aloha at the Hawaii International Film Festival 2024! This incredible documentary, created by Steve Sue, delves into the rich history and cultural significance of the Shaka, Hawaii's iconic symbol of aloha. We are thrilled to announce that we sold out 4 theaters at Kahala on Oahu, showcasing the overwhelming love and support for this powerful film.

Through interviews with Hawaii's top leaders, including cultural icons, military officials, former governors, pro surfers, and wise kupuna, Shaka: A Story of Aloha tells the story of how this simple hand gesture became a universal symbol of goodwill. The film also includes breathtaking reenactments, including a North Shore sugarcane train scene, and highlights some of the state’s most beloved figures, like legendary musician Henry Kapono, who donated his time and talent for the soundtrack.
