How the YAKUZA Flourished After WORLD WAR II

On September 2nd, 1945, Japan officially surrendered to the US and the Allied Forces. The Second World War brought with it poverty and hardships for the population of Japan, which also included the Yakuza. The Japanese Mafia was on the brink of extinction, when they found a new lifeline, with the emergence of Black Markets all across Japan. This, combined with a little bit of help from certain people inside the occupation government, led by General MacArthur, ensured the rebirth of Japan’s infamous crime groups.
