@John6346

I have a strange feeling this young man's gonna make it

@shaun0907

If your company is making $100 million in revenue why would you go work for someone else?

@chika4275

Just think of all the the people around the world that became billionaires because of this man!

@mikmop

I use to love watching Jane Pauley. She was such a great interviewer.

@Pulsonar

That long pause to the question about answering to a boss means he’d NEVER work for anyone but himself. He framed his answer to not appear as someone who’s difficult to work with.

@halfdome5705

TODAY needs to return to interviews that have substance like this. Multiple questions from several folks end up with confusing answers. Jane Pauley, as the sole interviewer elicited much important information from Gates.

@priceactionTelugu

One of the nicest interviews...passion always drives. Great inspiration..❤

@ryuhayabusa6776

Great seeing this. Windows and Word are so common now that it's hard to think that they were groundbreaking at one point. This company contributed a lot to the world.

@stingraystingray5778

500 employees back then. Up to a quarter million now.

@danieltkach2330

"... and a clock runs my life...", she sounded so sad and trapped...

@jameskelso5311

I thought for a young man, aged 28, Gates answered all questions quite well, and with a poise and adeptness above his years. He considered well, but wasn’t thrown by, the more intrusive ones, or the questions that others his age would falter on.

@Richard-gl7xu

The death stare at the end was killer.

@God.Almighty

people love to hate him but i believe him when he says he's not in it for the money and never thought of him as evil or maniacal. true that he was the kind of man that didn't care about others, but he was single minded and persistent in solving problems no matter the hurdles. he didn't find money, money found him.

@shimmeringreflection

Annual revenue was $100 million at that time and is now $200 billion annually ... with a $3 trillion valuation.

@koobzworks

cool how she described Windows at 1:52 "Windows divides a computer's display screen any number of ways, allowing the user to look at several applications at once." I don't know if people realize how revolutionary an "operating system" on a computer was at the time lol.

@ChequeWriter

Personification of the pursuit of a worthy ideal. Its admirable to see them so focused and succeeding in an area of extreme difficulty, working long hard hours for the love of the game. That is a big part of what life is about. Amazing experience.

@KevinColt

Microsoft flight simulator starting in 1984 is wild

@el9delcielo

She was kind of annoying him with those questions

@janes8147

This is humble guy, and now compare it to Elon, and you see huge difference!

@fredsalfa

Doesn’t blink an eye or have any response when she calls him genius
