I could have sworn Coco was competing in the same conditions. You lost ....do it gracefully.
Coco's answer is exceptional. The media training is paying off.
I am so disappointed in Sabalenka! Real champions don't make excuses. Coco was the better player because she was determined to win. Coco is more mature and humble.
This was the 11th time Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff have faced each other and with yesterday's victory Coco Gauff leads Aryna Sabalenka 6 to 5 heads up. I stated that to say this, if you go back and look, Coco Gauff never cried, nor made excuses after "either" of her five losses to Aryna Sabalenka. Yet, Aryna Sabalenka always appears to cry and make ridiculous excuses after each of her six losses to Coco Gauff, including ranting for a few long seconds, after this match, until she read the room, then flipped to praising Coco Gauff. Plus, yesterday was not a good look for Aryna Sabalenka, as she whined and yelled at people in her box, even telling one person in her box to leave, mid-match! Aryna Sabalenka was perfectly fine when she won her three grand slams or is ahead in points during the match, but as soon as she gets behind in points and then losses, she acts out, and like a spoiled brat makes excuses. Somebody has to call her out for this. I know it hurts to lose, but this crying and whining about "terrible conditions," when Coco had to suffer the same "terrible conditions" is starting to become bothersome!
Very disappointed in Sabalenka’s post conference. She’s full of herself thinking Coco only won because she played poorly. Yet Coco in her response was confident and gracious. Congrats Coco. Great match and VICTORY!
Sounds like a sore loser. Nobody is unbeatable. Congrats Coco. Don’t stoop to her level.
crazy how coco is 6 years younger and seemingly so much more mature. It showed in the game too she won partly cause she kept her head
Coco is just professional and smart, brilliant. Talks maturely, mind her words unlike the other.
Gauff gave her opponent more respect than she received. Says a lot.
What a low class statement from Aryna. Coco handled it perfectly. Bravo
A true champion can be gracious even in defeat. Saba is not one of those. Her ungracious remarks made Coco's victory even sweeter.
Sabalenka is being disrespectful to Coco. The best player won. Congrats to Gauff❤
Sabalenka reacted similarly to this after losing to Keys in the AO final (where Keys genuinely hit her off the court). At some point you need to accept that you’re not always going to win, and that the mental aspect of the game is just as important as the physical. And based on recent history, the assertion that Iga would’ve won this final against Coco doesn’t even make sense. Gauff has won their last three matches pretty easily.
Coco is just well raised, even some plays which won her points, she do apologise to the opponents. Such a class.
All those fake smiles and hugs she gave coco in her face then goes and say this smh
Sabalenka was very disrespectful to Coco at her post-match presser. She kept implying the only reason Coco beat her was because the court conditions made her the worst match of her career, and insinuated Iga Swiatek would have besten Coco today. The way Sabalenka was talking, you’d forget that her H2H against Coco going into this match was 5-5, Coco already beat her when they played in their previous Slam final match, and Coco has beaten Swiatek in straight sets the last 3 times they played, including on clay in Madrid. So there are literally ZERO facts to support most of what Sabalenka said. Coco didn’t luck her way into winning this match because Sabalenka had an off day from bad weather. Sabalenka was up 4-1, 40-0 in the first set and looked poised to run away with the match in the same terrible weather conditions in which Coco took that first set to a tiebreaker and then dug deep and played smart to win the next two sets. This is not a good look for Sabalenka. I’m sure she wanted to play better, but a player like Coco who always makes you hit “one more ball” is often THE REASON players can’t play the way they want to play. The weather didn’t beat Sabalenka; Coco beat Sabalenka
Coco is a class act! She didn't result to belittling or minimizing anyone!
Coco Gauff is just as amazing during these interviews, as she is on the court! This young lady is not only exceptionally talented, but she is gifted and is a blessing for us all to watch! I'm serious, I don't think LeBron James, Tom Brady, Shohei Othani, Connor McDavid, Lionel Messi, Chase Elliott, nor Caitlin Clark could have given a better response!
Sabalenka is just a sore loser plain and simple. Coco not only played exceptional she was calm and poised under pressure. Aryna needs to learn how to control her emotions.
