Gratitude does to sadness what light does to darkness, it makes it disappear. Seek gratitude in all things!
Things that improve our happiness: 1. Faith 2. Family 3. Friendships 4. Work - earn your success & help others
Yesterday we had the funeral of my 94 year old mother. I watched her grandsons carry her coffin in to the parish church where she raised her family in faith and love. She lived her faith every day and died loved and cared for in her own bed at home. 80 of us laughed and told stories of my parents' lives long into the evening. She was the embodiment of the message of this video. You are 100% correct Sir. Love and thanks from London. Xx
I'm watching this while my grandson is napping in my arms. Priceless.
It’s good that he clarified. That faith, doesn’t have to mean religion. It’s bigger than that.
Life’s currency : Love and happiness = Enjoyments (memories with people), satisfaction and meaning (goals/purpose) 50% genetic, 25% circumstantial, 25% habits Habits: 1-Faith (Something bigger than self) God, nature… 2-Family life Marriage/kids 3-Friendship F2F friendships without the expectations of a ROI. 4-Work Earning your success (bring value) Serving others (be needed)
I am lucky to have two wonderful adult sons! I am constantly amazed at how clever they are! I am retired now and am more relaxed now! Count your blessings every day!
Love your neighbor as “YOURSELF”❤❤ this means you are able to relate to yourself as compassion without judgment and each other.
Make myself small and the universe big..."I must decrease and He must increase" Biblical wisdom again. One of the best presentations I heard
I have found my inner peace, contentment, satisfaction, and well-being, which all result in happiness, through my daily meditations. As they say, true happiness is an inside job. Three of the four he mentions are outside of our control and thus can also be a source of suffering, and although we can desire them and cherish them, we should not depend on them for true inner happiness and well-being.
Great talk ! I'd agree with gratitude as a key factor in happiness. Humans easily focus on what's wrong or what they don't have. Be thankful !
Disappointed I could not make it to London, but great to hear from Professor Brooks about what is important in life.
For years, I believed success in life was all about hard work and pushing myself. But Mind Decoding by Keezano showed me that true success begins with faith and mindset. When I aligned my subconscious beliefs with God’s plan, doors started opening.. trusting in His wisdom and surrendering my struggles brought breakthroughs I had been chasing for years. I just wish I had read it earlier
Really a person is happy if he can trained his mind to care for family friends and society without any expectation
Thank you ARC and all speakers. This brings me "happiness ☺️". Seriously though, well spoken.
Your enthusiasm for helping people develop hope in a happier way is palpable. Condensing so much info into just a few minutes must have been a struggle. Thanks for the work you all do at ARC.
A big fan of Arthur C Brooks principles backed by empirical science on what makes us truly happy, what brings us real joy which is lasting happiness.
Love God, love your neighbor. Serve other, be grateful, and be kind.
Is it just me or this is what TED was meant to be. Weldone
