I found it truly beautiful, when at the end of the super broly movie, goku returned to broly to talk to him after their fight and he introduced himself as kakarot.

They're the same Goku is Kakarot Kakarot is Goku his desire to fight comes from his Saiyan blood, but he was raised by a fighter who even after being dead still had a lot of will to fight, and continuing improving and learning Goku only had one side, he is a warrior, a Saiyan raised on Earth

They're the same in my mind. To me is like having a first and middle name. Vegeta uses his first name, everyone else uses his middle name.

Goku and Kakarot are one in the same. They're just two names for the same person, like Clark Kent and Kal-El. Goku even gets his memories back late into the Super manga, remembering his parents, but it doesn't cause him to become a different person, he just feels more respectful towards his own race.

At the end of the super Broly movie Goku told Broly that he specifically should call him Kakarrot. But he tells his associates his name is Goku I found that interesting

I love how he grows to accept and appreciate his Saiyan heritage a lot more, especially after meeting Vegeta and beating Frieza. He even allows other Saiyans aka Broly and Paragus (in the first Broly movie) to call him Kakarot. He even goes as far as to tell Broly he can call him Kakarot. Goku and Vegeta embrace other full blooded saiyans as family especially since in the Frieza saga they were believed to be the last 2 remaining Saiyans
