Luffy's gear 4 heavily relies on augmenting his DF with Haki already. Also, when he first awakened Gear 5, or when he fought Lucci on egghead, his transformation was accompanied with massive discharges of conquerors' haki. While Kaido said that "Haki is everything" - a perfect synergy of DF pwrs and haki would likely yield another pwr-up.

It makes sense that something Observation Haki adjacent/Conqueror’s Haki fused is being worked on this arc. Dressrosa kind of had just Armament and Wano had a mixture of Conqueror’s and Armament. It does make sense that Loki has pretty good observation Haki and is able to tell where things are from a distance given he’s had his eyes covered since he was young and, given a giants life span, has had a long time to work on it. If Fujitora was able to live as long as a giant, he’d probably have really good observation Haki too

I think you over focused on Luffy being able to sense Imu. I think he has already been able to sense long distance haki if the haki is strong enough or powerful enough. He did the same with Shanks back on Wano and has been shown to react to powerful haki like with Saturn on egg head. I think it's just the same thing here as he isn't the only one to notice. The other giants and straw hats also notices Imu's immense haki

Oda is about to introduce fusion and that’s why white and black Nika exist, they need to fuse to unlock real Nika. Could explain why Shanks found the Gomu fruit a couple years prior to capturing Loki and locked Loki up at the end of the grand line, where the only way Luffy would get there is if he was strong enough. He was stockpiling everything needed. Could also explain Blackbeard’s multiple fruits.
