@gasmonkey1234

Dude probably smoked a cigarette on the podium too.

@abi3673

I was expecting a wayyy larger gap than .81 seconds. That is actually impressive

@jenngreen7043

It’s truly amazing they ran sub-11 back then. Especially in those dark ages spikes

@Bren3669

i’m actually impressed, i was not expecting his 10.6 way back then

@m.d.sharpe8892

10.6 on that horrible surface with those shoes is absolutely crazy

@jbealsmusic

I remember watching a documentary once that made the argument that human performance hasn't actually improved in track and swim events. The primary drivers of the apparent improvements has been due to the technology. When modern athletes use the older equipment, their times drop to the older norm.

@krisstoff3722

10.6 is still ridiculous under those circumstances, that’s extremely impressive

@amirhad6594

Let's not forget that athletes back in the day actually had lives and jobs, and were doing spots as a hobby

@MarkEnriquez1971

Dude in 1924 probably wasn’t even the fastest guy living back then. He was just the fastest guy competing.

@himanshubhaskar9797

Bro 10.6 with no blocks, clayey track and a regular day job is crazy😂😂😂

@gophukyurselvs3621

I think everyone has more respect for the dude who ran a 10.6 in 1924 with the lack of assistance from technology

@WildOutdoorLiving

Dont underestimate the prior generations. With that said the 10.6 100 years ago was hand timed while we now have more accurate timing systems. Hand times generally report a quicker time than modern timing systems. May not have quite been 10.6 but the point still stands, it was extremely quick given the circumstances.

@americanparser

That's an amazing testament to that record holder 100 years ago.

@damienthimonier4900

Just forgot the most important thing : back in the day, they weren't professional athlete.

@brentm4318

10.6 back then is crazy. Curious what Abrahams would look like in the modern era

@peachtreee4649

I think the sprint-in-place was their hidden secret. 😂

@cradlelist

0.81 faster?...That's the real life Olympics equivalent of "all that for a drop of blood?" ~Thanos

@gustavoromero9589

I ain’t going to lie back in the day it was crazy they was fast as hell

@vasiliosf2091

It'd be cool to see the champions of the past with today's tech and training!

@BriceMarty-n1c

bro in track and field .81 secs is a MASSIVE difference
