We noticed a group of viewers being unhappy with our storytelling of the rise of Shia and the caliphs. Please keep in mind the shia movement very much existed though not officially, more politically, as they supported the caliph Ali to be the first (shiatu Ali). All in all within Islam, groups never agree with one thing or another, so we just took the neutral point, if you don't like it, don't watch it :face-blue-smiling:

@talibeyilm

Clarification:
Abbasaids were not Shia but were actually sunni as well

@nel1737

Respect for not showing an image of the prophet (PBUH)

Hello, I'm from Saudi Arabia and studied the history of the Umayyad. actually at that time even after the Abbasids planned to kill every single Umayyad some of them hidden in Damascus and many of them ran to Taif (a city south to Mecca, and still exists). they descents of those who ran to Taif live today in the same city.

@AggressiveWarrior1

He didn’t run with his family only with 2 of his brothers . His family stayed in Damascus bc he knew Abbasids will not kill women and children, and her brothers died in front of him when the were crossing the river not when he were sleep and he was 19 not 20

@whitezetsu4191

Minor correction, the jizyah or tax that non Muslims had to pay under the Islamic nation were a smaller amount than the tax Muslims had to pay, also know as zakat.

So don’t make out Islam in a dark light without actually looking into it

@mohammedsayed.1876

a small correction that you can check any sources for

arabs (only muslim arabs) pay zakat which is a tax spent on the poor and needy of the country, as well as the obligation to be part of the army and fend off anyone who would try to attack the empire
non muslims who lived under the empire rule regardless of their nationality do not partake in wars and join the army, so they pay whats called a jizya which is the tax you refer to in 3:20, go check any sources you find and this is the case, there was no racism in islam, in the modern arab world maybe some arabs favor themselves over other arabs, but only true muslims follow the prophet peace be upon him, and one of his orders which our Prophet (ï·ș) said in his Farewell Sermon, “You are all from Adam, and Adam is from dust. There is no virtue for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a non-Arab over an Arab, nor for a white person over a black person, nor for a black person over a white person, except by righteousness” anyone who does not follow this order of the prophet is not a true muslim that has submitted his will to god, this jizya is about them gaining the protection of the empire without having to go into war, i understand its a misunderstanding as many people repeat this myth that it was basically something arabs did to gain superiority over non arabs, but please look into it further, and thankyou for reading this

@AliKhan-mn5oz

As a Muslim, it's painful to admit that even though peace is the biggest teaching of Islam and the lesson the Holy Prophet peace be upon him taught us the most, the followers never understood that. Our history is filled with bloodshed and chaos.
Prophet Muhammad did not want us to split up into factions (we did)
He did not want to fight other arabs for the survival of Islam (they started butchering the Muslims and left them no choice)
He wanted us to NOT chase after worldly wealth, power and other desires and remain at peace with one another (we never followed)
He warned us that someday we will stop following his teachings and that day will mark our demise (Muslims are forgetting how much Islam should mean to them)
😔😔

@Wof_Ac

12:57 I love how you can see how when he was dragged out of the water, right at the shore of the river there was a massive hole where he was dragged and then later turned into footprints as he stood up and ran, very detailed and loves the art style

@lilvacation1

your respect for religions in the video
gives you extra respect

@WitchyWitch-g6q

I feel so happy, being able to see how well our story is told. and the work you have done along with the respect!!! thank you very much ! i will be sharing with my students !!

@rahulvats95

3:48 bro you messed up here. Persians weren't shia at tha pot.

@coolmaster8386

Thank you for respecting my religion and not drawing the companions of the prophet

@naif0901

I know i’m late to this video but seeing everyone trying to correct you or argue about stuff I just wanna say this animation is legendary! Great storytelling and humor! I subscribed and liked the video.

@joynalmiah8864

This is great, can't wait for the next part

@ash_tree71

I love the rich Arabian history; such a world in itself. Respect for not showing the Prophet's face nor his companions. And respect to the comments that clarified the few misunderstandings in the video.❀

@o.i.s1

3:29 it was infact very fair for few major reasons, muslims pay zakat which is given to the poor while non muslims didnt, and plus u get to keep ur church and be protected by muslims and they're free to keep their business and goods

@m0dh_s

Thank you so much for this interesting video! Just a small historical note: Emir Abdulrahman didn’t flee with his sisters and younger brother, since the Abbasid army didn’t kill women or children. Instead, he escaped with two of his brothers who were old enough to be targeted.
Again, thank you so much for this fascinating video! :D

@Han-ze3jr

Excellent animation and story telling! There were minor errors in some of the stories but all in all correct. Great work!
