Jotaro at 17 looks like he eats other people.... And it is peak
Pop step looks like at least in her last year of high school
It's the sitcom affect. Like in America when we cast 25 year old to play high school students and it's like "that's clearly an adult man. "
For MHA...and every single Highschool related manga...I have a simple solution for authors... Say it's college... It doesn't change much...like...not much at all...
As a teenager that's still in High School, I don’t have to deal with this moral dilemma!
I do like Pop Step, but even while reading the manga, I was like: "Are they really going to push for the middle schooler Pop to date the COLLEGE student Koichi? Even the gap between Usagi and Mamoru in Sailor Moon wasn't this big..."
Chad from Bleach being like 16 and also being the size of The Rock was pretty crazy
Part of it is the main demographic for anime in Japan being high schoolers. It is a major part of why there are so many anime and manga set in schools. It gives escapism to the kids. But then artists want to make more adult shows, lines blur.and you end up with children that look like adults or adults with a "I just turned four. Badge pinned to ther chest.
"I didn't realize she was so young." No wonder bro was so supprised.
Wtf, Yoko is 14??? WTF?!? I was going to say Simon looked like he was 14, except I looked it up just now and HE WAS 14! I always thought it was super dumb that Simon got so depressed about Yoko falling for Kamina cuz like, he's just a kid, of course the CLEARLY ADULT WOMAN is going to fall for the older buff dude instead of the child, but now the whole thing just seems really gross
Thats why i don't care anymore about fictional characters age. You CANNOT guess the characters age anymore.
When you set it up like that It also makes us imagine that 15-17 year olds in Japan are like the heights of US College Football Players given how the “camera” angle always set them to look tall depending on series
My solution in recent years? Literally i just pretend everyones in college. They dont even ACT like highschoolers. They act like they pay taxes!
i feel like we just need to age up charaters honeslty. weve gotten so much kid leads i think its time to let that rest for a little bit. thats why i love the kaujui 8 manga dudes like 30 trying to fufuil a dream he failed as a kid at. RELATABLE AF
Pop Step is 17 at the beginning of the manga.
Love how you showed a SAO characters in game model instead of just the character. She looks older than her model for me. Could be a weird elf effect though
LMFAO the way he said "I DIDNT REALISE SHE WAS SO YOUNG!" almsot sounds like youve down things you shouldnt have 😂😂
This is an issue in animation in general. I remember when the live action Kim Possible series was first shown and so many people lost their minds. “That’s not Kim Possible! She doesn’t look anything like the character!” Kim Possible is a teenager in high school. The live action actress was either the same age, or about the same age (by like a 1 year difference). But Kim is not drawn to look like a high schooler. She’s drawn to look more so like an early 20 year old woman. And yes, what kids look like varies based on the generation. I remember a lot of people commenting on how teens in the 2000s looked way older than they actually were. There is a generational component in both how kids grow up based on their environment and what kind of styling is commonplace. But overall, animated characters tend to look much older than they actually are.
I wish people gooning over fictional character ages put that same energy into wanting to protect actual children.
