These are great they just seem like they learnt their lines then filmed in one take, but you can tell everyone is having so much fun
In general I love how this seems like a commercial where they left the outtakes in. Like they said “cut” and everyone breaks character, but they left that in too.
One mistake I made while translating this video is, especially since my channel is known for its explanations and analysis -- I failed to self-insert into the shoes of someone who doesn't understand Japanese. This video is 100% absurdism. You're not missing anything. I gave you all the information you need to be at the level to understand the humour. There's nothing more to it. I got long Discord messages asking me how the Katakana words with the bar vowel extension could possibly be confused with eachother -- there is no way they would ever be confused for eachother. That's the joke.
Mai Shiraishi and Asuka Saito for the cultured ones in the comments section.
"Oh my PC come back, thank you so much" absolutely broke me, ahahah!
Seeing them break character was the best part!
Thanks - this made my day. Been a fan of these Nogizaka46/Mouse vids since they appeared on YouTube. You're right, easy enough to figure out what's going on, but thanks very much for filling in the gaps with translation!
As you point out in the pinned comment, this video is absolute absurdity. But it builds on the popular format of 'manzai' where one person plays the 'tsukkomi' (straight man) and the other(s) play the 'boke' (fool). It plays off of the absolute absurdity of actions / statements of the 'boke' whereby the audience sides with the 'tsukkomi' who usually attempts (and ultimately fails to) reestablish some kind of normal interaction / situation. I'm going to show this to my Japanese 101 class lmfao
I've been addicted to Mouse Diner for a couple of years. Thanks for translating - the delightful acting really got the message across even without the translation, but thanks! Having watched several comedies - TV series and movies - from Japan, I can confirm: Our Japanese friends are funny.
When the guy was talking about ordering some pepper was laughing like an idiot but with the UNMA skusaku i died. This video is really good man, thanks
Fantastic. I love "what the hell is going on" humor. Gotta go digging for subbed japanese sketch comedy now i guess
loved that he continues to stay look around the menu despite being served with tech
"Is that how it works? Then I'll bu- Of course I won't buy one!"
This is an overtly silly commercial banking on the cuteness of the two idol girls and the comedic silliness of the comedy duo. It is so crazy and cute it is hilarious. The idea is to make it unforgettable in order to solidify the mouse brand into your mind while also giving you an idea of the services they offer. It’s pretty genius in its simplicity and effect. It’s in the same vein of commercial psychology of the red bull gives you wings silliness but using celebrities and showcasing their specific talents to make it memorable.
the guy in stripes really just said whatever he wanted lol
I don't know why but Mouse company is like people also like our commercial/ AD's we give them more this one was weirdly GOOD.
1:24のところ、OkayじゃなくてOke「置け〜」(put down)って言ってるけど意味は通じてるからいいのか笑笑
So this is the Japanese equlivant of the BBC Two Ronnies "Four Candles" sketch?
This is excellent! Thank you!
