Instead of joining the EU, Canada can join the European Economic Area (EEA), which includes Norway and Iceland, with Switzerland having a similar status.

I am a conservative Republican and a Trump supporter concerning many things. However, I strongly disagree with these tariffs, especially with Canada. I think the tariffs will diminish our relationships and create ill-will with not just Canada and Mexico, but with many nations and citizens of the world. Surely our differences could be resolved without escalating economic warfare and making enemies out of allies. Equally important, I just don't think it will lead to good economic outcomes for anyone and won't contribute significantly to reducing illegal immigration or solving the fentanyl crisis. Trump, please take a chill pill on this one.
