in my opinion (as a manga reader) kanao is heavily underrated. she played such an important role in the final arc of the show and has had so much development.

Kinda feel like people undermastimate how hard decision making is for her and that this is a big deal for her, that she has to confront it multiple times. The constant internal battle must be hard. ❤

I think some people forget that long periods of time go by in the anime. Weeks, months, years go by and we're so caight up in what we see that we forget that sometimes. And during all that time Kanao probably took Tanjiro's words to heart and was trying and practicing. She doesn't get screentime as often so we can see her natural progression.

I really hate when people call her a Mary Sue or a pick me because they ignore her backstory which explains why she acts the way she does. She was abused and neglected so much and traumatized to a point where she was no longer able to make choices for her self, stripping herself of her own autonomy. It took her roughly three-four years after being rescued by Kanae and Shinobu for her to finally get a glimpse of what it’s like to be in control of her own life and even after her talk with Tanjiro, Shinobu doesn’t notice a big change in her personality until the hashira training arc. No Kanao is not “too perfect” she’s a mentally scarred teenager doing her best to work past her childhood trauma.
