When playing on the PS5 console itself, Sony should put in a “enter rest mode (PSPortal mode)” which auto shuts off power data being sent to the hdmi, turns down resolution to 1080p and disables HDR.

My Playstation has always been hardwired, so upgrading to a wi-fi mesh network is what made a huge difference for me. I now have access points in any of the rooms I would use my Portal (and those are all hardwired as well), and I use the mesh network phone app to manually set the Portal to connect to the closest access point (I don't trust the mesh system to manually switch itself).

I found that placing my PS5 as a DMZ host on my router and setting a static IP on my PS5 made remote play work incredibly well away from home.  We have wifi 7 at home and I have zero issues.

Thank for this one mate .  I think the HDR setting might be the issue I'm having when I remote play fallout 76. Was noticing washed out and slightly blurry visuals. Fingers crossed this will help .  I discovered  something that proves that sony can allow us to stream  games we have in our own library. I am a huge fallout fan , i started a play of fallout 4  on my portal and noticed that I did not have any dlc  enabled. Cloud streaming only provides the base game . I bought a dlc pack and installed it on my PS5 . These dlc's all  appeared in fallout 4 streaming as available to play .  This is something forums had said could not happen .  Hmmmm

Disabling HDR is easy enough by adding the accessibility quick menus icon and toggling colour inverted

Also taking out the hdmi cabel helps alot and turn off 120hz

I love the portal but hate playing Helldivers 2 on it. Everything looks so small and the analog sticks are smaller and inputting stratagems are a pain as well because of the ergonomics but with any solo game it works really good.

Thx for making the vid but it raised some questions I had.....maybe you can help me with them? I am having to change the output settings depending on what I am playing the PS5 on (portal, monitor, and Big Screen).  Is there a way to keep these settings per the device I am on? For example I want HDR on Big screen but not on the portal.  Any advice would be appreciated cause I am sick of changing all my settings over and over.

How do you get your copy of the matrix demo to play full screen? When I play it on mine it’s for black bars top and bottom and even it’s the same on my tv too.

How does the portal screen compare to the switch 2 screen? The portals LCD is so much better than expected so just curious your thoughts!

My portal will randomly not connect to my ps5 and when this happens you can also just put the portal in sleep mode real quick and it will fix it just as good as restarting it. I also tend to have a harder time connecting with my portal from work in the afternoons and I'm not sure why. I'm going to try ethernet but I noticed my upload speeds aren't as good but my download speeds are greatly increased.

Hmm not sure doing all that is necessary. Now what you can do is a video with two portals and test if turning off hdr on ps5 messes with the colors on the portal, one would have to look better then the other if what you say is true. Ethernet is a must and that’s the real true best option but everything else is subjective until I see a side by side comparison video
