Food is not the worst part. It's the overcrowding along with humid tropical heat, and if you're just a regular Filipino guy, being at the bottom of the prison hierarchy where you're a servant to other prisoners. You may wish to instead go postal towards the arresting police LOL.

I once watched a documentary where an Asian-American Chef went to several Prisons in South East Asia to see how they cook Prison food and how he could improve it with their budget. The episode where he visited a Prison in Manilla, Philippines, might be the worst Prison since no only due to overcrowding and how derelict the Prison was but the "kitchen" was just a giant hut with no walls with only one giant pot and several tables with limited ingredients to cook whatever they had to feed the Prisoners.

Being a witness of what they eat, that meal is very lucky. Usually they feast on stewed mung beans (called "ginisang munggo") and random small fish like "galunggong."

This look glamorous. Prison food here in the Philippines is nothing but plain white rice + typical meat dish (usually adobo). If the facility gets a little more allowance they might add some banana (small) and a glass of water 😑 IT SUCKS! You would just want to die instead. SO DO NOT GET INTO TROUBLE HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE A GLIMPSE OF HELL.
