I think it’s important to note the overall “theme” for this update seems to be survivability. Yi Xuan can distribute health, Pan and Astra can restore health, and Caesar provides the best shield in the game. With the new hollow area adding the miasma mechanic and having a focus on exploration, this additional survivability will be incredibly important for anyone newer or more casual (of which we are guaranteed to have an influx with the xbox release). With this in mind, the order of interest for new players who have no specific preference is… Yi Xuan, Ju Fufu, Astra, Caesar. Yeah, even if you want more survivability as a rookie, it’s better to target a solid dps and build your supports a bit later. Pan will be plenty to help drive Yi Xuan before you need to focus on other agents. Ju Fufu and Astra provide good utility for any team, and Caesar is solid, but holds the least long term value.

The great thing about Caesar is that she not only buffs your characters but also debuff enemies and when you have your shield up, you just ignore all attacks. Whenever I use Evelyn or (no-stun) Harumasa, I feel like having Caesar is a must because it allows Evelyn and Harumasa to play the way they 'need' to be played. It allows Evelyn to just continue swinging away and if she misses her parry with her EX, it doesn't matter - it's great if she gets it, but if it she misses it, she can still continue swinging instead of having to dodge. Similarly, whenever Harumasa is doing his slash attacks, it sucks to have to dodge with him and then do Falling Feather again to have to pick up on where he left off on his dash attacks - with Caesar, he just doesn't give af and just keeps slashing until he's done. I don't think Caesar is made for everyone but she definitely allows some characters to breathe more easily and do what they want to do rather than be forced to dodge - some characters can utilize that and others can't. I can maybe argue the case for Caesar instead of Astra depending on what you need/want but Yi Xuan seems very powerful and Ju Fufu sounds like she's powerful in her own right and I'm not sure I can say to pick Caesar over Yi Xuan or Ju Fufu. Granted though, I think the answer really comes down to each individual's account and how many supports they have and whatnot to be able to make a decision but I'd hardly say that Caesar is clearly the weakest option of the four.

Seeing as I've already got Astra and Caesar, it's really just the newbies I'm concerned about. Yixuan will definitely take priority, Ju Fufu will have to bring something really major to warrant not sticking to Lighter or Trigger. Much more interested in trying Astra, Yixuan, Vivian

IMO for new players who started 1.7/2.0 they should go for Yi xuan first. If everything goes well, they would start off their zenless experience with Yi Xuan, Pan (will most likely get during Yi Xuan Pulls) and Koleda from the S rank selector (her AA is getting added to be paired with rupture agents) if they dont want Jufufu, but if they do, their 2 starting teams are strong: Billy, Anby, Nicole and Yi Xuan, Koleda/Fufu, Pan. If they do not want Fufu but want to spend, ONLY THEN would I recommend going for Astra bc with new players they would be lacking agents that would really benefit from her despite Astra helping almost every agent.

Correction about what the point of Rupture agents; they never said that Rupture have offense and defensive capabilities, but rather that they have offense and *survivability*. While survivability can include defensive options like we see with Yixuan, the "survivability" of future rupture agents could come in other forms such as life steal, which differentiates it from the Defense role where the focus is on absorbing hits and mitigating damage taken.

Getting Caesar because I need all of the Sons of Calydon homies for my man Lighter. Already have Astra. Might get Yixuan because I really like her new outfit; would end up getting her and never use the default lol. Of all these characters, Ju Fufu is actually my easiest skip, because I have a well invested Lighter and Trigger. I might get her on a rerun for Hugo I guess... I just find her design is not interesting and I'm very much an aesthetics gamer. I'm happy for Ellen buffs; I found her super fun when her rerun banner was out but I already had Miyabi and wanted Hugo because Man ™ and he worked seamlessly with Lighter. I hope I can get her on her next rerun too

I'm honestly really struggling with deciding who I'm pulling lol, I took a massive break after 1.1 and just came back with 1.7. Yixuan seems like an easy one, since she seems to have an interesting move set, and is 'void Hunter' level, though to be honest I am gonna wait as I'm not the highest fan of her visual design (personally) astra seems like a must pick from what I know, although your points in this video do kinda make me wonder, tho she seems like she's still great to have in the back pocket for the added flexibility if nothing else. Jufufu was originally gonna be a skip, but honestly as I'm currently skipping lighter, a stunner that seems to be a combination of him and trigger sounds very intriguing, especially with the Ellen buffs coming. I just have some level of choice paralysis lol, 2.0 just feels pretty stacked. (Sorry ceaser but you are the easiest one to skip here)

Def gonna pull Yixuan. She’s the mascot character for this entire season so she’s for sure going to be a solid character. Plus you’ll most likely get Kung Fu panda packaged with her while pulling anyway. Almost like a 2 for 1! I’ll have to see how good Ju Fufu is before deciding but she’s most likely a skip. I have Astra and lighter so idk if I need more supports. Looking forward to the Chimera girl

Completely agree with the "play to have fun with a character you like" thing, as I'm still a Piper main from day 1 of the game. But it's weird than to not recommend Caesar. She is still very good with some teams (Piper, Caesar, Lucy is still endgame-viable), and Caesar is FUN. Hitting those parrys is satisfying, and dueling aggressive enemies in just a 1v1 brawl is always fun. She's 100% a fun, worthy pickup

None of the number crunchers will ever put any stock into survivability. Ceasar takes the need to dodge off the table which makes one of the three deadly assaults a cakewalk every rotation.
