Same reason people don’t live in northern Canada….
Southern Argentina has the strongest winds in the world outside of Antarctica, for those living in the Midwest or in the Rocky Mountains of the USA it's the same but on steroids
Going down south, according to me: Sandy beaches, palm trees, and beautiful weather. Going down south, according to Northern Argentines: Patagonia
Just to note, Mar del Plata is a coastal town in the southeastern part of Buenos Aires.
South Argentina is just Argentina's Canada.
I was there a month ago. Beautiful country, the kindest and most sincere people.
Kinda annoying that México keeps being referenced as the center of spanish control when Lima was the center for South América and directly administered argentina til the 1770's (aprox)
As an Argentinian, I don't consider Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area as part of the North and, in your map, it is just in the limit between North and South. If you ignore the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, the rest of Argentina is mostly empty with pockets of population that rarely exceed a million people. So while the facts stated in this video are correct, they are clearly misleading.
South of Argentina and Chile is some of the most beautiful places on earth.
My wife is Argentinian, she was born in Santa Cruz only because her father was in the military and he had to move there. He almost went to the Malvinas war, his cousin went and survived. That place is VERY COLD and WINDY. The cost of living is very high and that's a huge barrier for most people in the country.
What a fantastic and insightful look at Argentina. It’s such a fascinating country. Buenos Aires is such a thrill. I truly hope that it can recuperate economically.
Despite being an American channel, you told what happened with Operation Condor, managed by the CIA. Congratulations for your seriousness, professionalism and neutrality! Hugs from argentina
As an argentinian, nice video! Just two minor mistakes: 1) Mar del Plata is located on the coast of BsAs Province, no inland. 2) Neuquén population is approximately triple than the video claims (~720 k)
It's very simple. Most of the southern región is Patagonia, very windy most of the year, very hot in summer and very cold in winter. Not an easy climate to adapt yourself to. No centralization, long distances between cities and towns.
I hated geography in high school, idk what got me to click on the first video of yours but ever since I can’t stop, every time they pop up. Your videos are so interesting.
As an argentinean born and raised in the big rivers and forests in the north of the country, I tried life in the middle of Santa cruz province, I can say that almost the entire Patagonia is just a vast flat and windy desert full of petrol pumps everywhere, I got depressed by such a drastic change, there was nothing to do there, the most annoying was the dogs that were very agressive, is like if that desert turned everyone in bad mood, and is easy to understand if there are sand storms everytime and no water, its not an inviting place to go for walks. A tip to people wanting to go there: stick to the Andes mountains is much better
Thanks!
Muh friend growing up we were 7or8. His Dad was from Argentina. He was 69, smoked cigarettes, wore gold jewelry. Very fit and active. He was getting on our bikes sitting on the handlebars backwards riding the bike even letting go with his hands whilst smoking. This was in 1984. His name was Lucky LOL that was 40 years ago.
When I rented a car in southern Patagonia, about the only advice the owner gave me was to NOT LET GO OF THE DOOR when it was open, so that the wind would not tear it off. Given the region's extreme winds, which are common in the world geography of southern Chile and Argentina, this was definitely good advice.
