68 yrs of these sweet creatures in my life. This is spot on. Dogs are just as awesome in their own way. I feel humbled and honored to be ‘ok’d’ by my little kitties. Same with my little puppers. I love them💖

@rodr7377

Am 66, do love my feline friends! All so true in your video.

@nicoleancell6860

Cats are empaths. They can read the energy of people

@williamgeorgefraser

I'm an absolute magnet to cats. They seem to know I will give them food. I can't stand to see a hungry cat and always have food on hand, even in my car, to be able to give to a needy cat.

@martycallmer9865

I just lost my bobo. I am very fortunate to have his brother and he is consoling me. Actually we are consoling each other...

@HollyFayHolverson777

Cats are great

@jharvey9898

My cat adopted me even though I tried tossing him off the porch. That was 10 years ago. I feel so loved.

@jameswillett2403

It's hard to act like they don't exist when mine sit on my chest and sleep under my knees with a blanket over them.😊

My Cat Oreo loves ❤️ to play in my room

@MaryLynnKay

My cat’s favorite game is fetch. Loves to chase that ball, and bring it back, again and again.

@MaryRoberts-b9r

I tamed 3 feral kittens from a stray mom we’d been feeding who had learned to trust us enough to consider our house her home. When the kittens were weaned and I saw them using a litter box in our garage, I took them in my house and prepared a space in my vacant bathroom. I wanted to tame them so they would have a chance at a forever home instead of more strays producing more strays.

First, I just went in the room and sat for an hour or two so they would get used to my presence and eventually trust me. I didn’t keep food down constantly because I brought food in with me when I came in to sit with them. I didn’t feed them immediately. I waited until the end of the hour so they would not be distracted from my presence.
The next step was play! They forgot completely about being afraid of me while I played with them for an hour or two then I fed them. I had never attempted to touch them yet. During play they would run all over my legs, therefore getting familiar with me unknowingly. I gradually began putting pieces of food in my vicinity for them before setting a bowl of food down. I gradually moved the pieces of food closer to me. Then I began placing them on my legs. Then in my hands so they would eat out of my hands. I did not touch them because they associated my hands with fear because their feral mom had taught them to be afraid of humans and their hands. By placing the pieces of food in my hands they eventually began to associate my hands with positivity not fear. Eventually I was able to touch them. Then pet them. However, they each had their own rate of progression. I learned which ones would tolerate touch and what kind. Before I tried to touch them at all, they had begun laying against my legs then on my legs. I didn’t try to touch them immediately then either. I waited for them. This video is true. My patience paid off. I couldn’t find homes for them though and none of the no kill rescues had room for them. I ended up keeping them as outside cats and got them neutered. It turned out that eventually anyone could touch them and pet them. My very young grandkids could even touch them and pet them and loved to play with them for hours! I was the only one allowed to pick them up very briefly to set them on a table to eat or move them out of the way. I was not allowed to hold them for extended periods or carry them around. I figured out a way to put flea drops on them or give them some medication but had to be tricky. Although they didn’t like it they didn’t try to bite me or scratch me. However, the meds only I could get away with mostly. They rubbed on others in the household and asked for pets from everyone. PATIENCE WAS THE KEY TO THEIR HEARTS.

@marierubim

Oh, it is exactly like this. I have some sort of magnet for cats (and dogs too), and I could find myself in many of these traits. Perhaps because I'm autistic, I've always understood and valued the importance of personal space, routine and silence mostly, so I kinda treat them the way I like people to treat me, and it works like a charm.

(My cats do prefer to play with feather toys btw, jumping around).

@Midnight1138

The white whiskers give him a distinguished and dignified look <3

@Rohvannyn

These are excellent points, my cats and I thank you for them. Also valuable reminders. I think I have a missing piece to the puzzle though - pheromones! My theory is that some people give off pheromones that are closer to feline ones, and those people are more attractive to cats. This is partly because I know a woman who is rather chaotic, unsettled, ungraceful, at some times loud, and not always respectful of feline space and moods. Yet, most cats absolutely love her! The way she acts though, cats should be running the other way. It was a mystery to me until I thought of that possibility.

When I became an adult, cats started gravitating toward me in the same way. My scent had changed. I strive to understand and respect cats and the way they communicate, and the more I learn about them the more I love them, but I think scent might explain these cases where someone doesn't really act like a "cat person" but cats love them anyway.

Anyway, thank you for this video and for the continuing education. I just became a subscriber. Lastly: yes, I've been chosen by a number of cats, but one of my favorite times was with a 14 year old Lynx-point Siamese. He'd lost his previous guardian and was in mourning. It took months of coaxing but then in the middle of the night I heard him calling out. I went to see what was up and he greeted me like a long lost friend. He gave me his heart then and we were great buds after.

@Alan-yd7jh
