@Jasonoid

Inspiration for this project came from ⁨@NoiseLab47⁩ . You can find @NoiseLab47 Anker F3800 Videos HERE:

I'm sure there are plenty of other videos on YouTube doing similar experiments but this was my main inspiration. Thanks NoiseLab!

@heart4Pahoa

Not an Anker owner, but I do love this kind of stuff. Thanks for sharing.

@NoiseLab47

So glad you made a video on this! You do a fantastic job of explaining topics like this without getting lost in the details, like me :). It's been amazing to see all the ideas people have come up with since I first posted my findings. With more exposure, I imagine that trend will continue! Thanks again for the video, and the mention!

@sun-sea-solar

That cable mod is golden 👌👌

@TheCornucopiaProject-bd5jk

I have seen another guy hack a cable for expansion. It’s about time we see some content in this regard.
Next should be a diy battery replacement

Does the Anker charge the diy expansion battery?

While we love fast charging, I’d think there is a risk of pushing too much power thru the bms of the power station.

I think my preferred method of connection would be a busbar or the victron distributor. Anker on one side, battery on other side, middle part to add mppts or loads.

All this hacking will most likely void warranties. But can be worth it. Expansion batteries are very expensive and a OTC battery is much cheaper.

@sun-sea-solar

I wonder how many YouTube channels will copy this exact video 😂 and claim it as their own

@psgconcepts3333

I have the chargeverter in my setup but very nice to know capabilities. Thank you for bringing new info. Solid channel

@ViciousXUSMC

Always possible to take apart the power station and wire up your own anderson connector or something closer to the battery past the BMS on models that the BMS prevents this.
Obviously don't do that if your not comfortable with it and want warranty support, so that is why I save it for the cheaper portable units not the big expensive ones.

I have had minor sucsess with Ecoflow, on the newer units not working, so I'll have to go next level and get my ociliscope out and see if i can find the data pins behavior and emulate it.

@ramrunnr

I don't have a anker, but I'd love to find a video like this for ecoflow power stations.

@johnmal5975

The old jarhead did a video on this the other day with the oupes. It's really a game changer for those who want to expand but can not afford the expandable battery. Personally I won't do it with my pecrons because its above my pay grade. Pecrons bats are also a lot more reasonable as far as pricing compared to other companies plus you get the built in solar charge controller in them. The old Jarhead also noted to test the voltages on your power station because he found some were true 48v and others were 52 etc.. So to stay safe test your power stations bat port then match it with the appropriate battery. Hopefully thanks to you and the old jarhead these companies get a wake up call on their pricing for the expandable bats. Some companies are a bit much! Thank you Jason this must of taken you weeks to make this video.

@billg6051

Another outstanding video Jason! Thanks for sacrificing a F3800 cable for our benefit as this F3800 owner is very grateful 👍

@louiskynardjr.1871

As always, thank you for this information. I tested this using my Expansion Battery port and got similar results. With DIY Batteries 1/3 the cost of the innovator’s Expansion product, it’s not hard to understand why folks are willing to give it a shot… 😮

@johnwasilenko170

Interesting modification testing results and conclusions - Thanks for demonstrating both manufacturer and modification limitations!

@segundacuenta726

That was some hardcore testing! Very good!

@cynagen

19:09 it's a power save feature, there needs to be a load otherwise it's a parasitic draw keeping the inverter activated. Just keeping the inverter on uses a little bit of juice. If the station doesn't detect a load after a period of time it shuts off the inverter to save power.

@KevinMarks-w2e

Awesome video! Very detailed and loved all the different testing! And then the detail on how you adapted the cable! Super cool. I’ve also seen the Old Jarhead video that several have spoke of. I have a Mega 2 but haven’t attempted to mess with the cable yet lol. Thanks Again!

@mrct309

Very cool, I'm already doing the same thing with Dabbsson brand of power stations

@chrisklemencic6076

Great test. Excellent details. Hard to justify the $3000 CDN per expansion battery.... This give more options! Thanks

@AveRage_Joe

I saw the original video as well and wanted to do all these test but havent had the time. Glad to see everything works. One thing I would possibly suggest is not charging a single F3800 over 1C or 3800watts or maybe even 3600w. If 2 connected then 2C or 7600w or again slightly lower at 7200w. I only suggest that because I remember seeing max charge of 3600w somewhere. The other thing I was thinking for the F3800 Plus output shutting off is, isnt there a setting in the app to keep that on. Either way great job!!!

@dominique___1980

SUPER cool video. Thanks, everyone involved.
