It’s a tradition to come and watch this every few months
"So hitler kind of shot himself in the foot there...just the foot for now" Foreshadowing
13:05 seeing photos like this really gets to me. It's easy to feel disconnected from history but seeing the faces of people reminds me that it's not just stories. Those are real people who had real experiences and this was their life. They had friends, family, favorite foods, favorite music, childhoods. They really did have balls of steel
Chamberlain: "Do not invade the rest of Czechoslovakia." Hitler: Invades Czechoslovakia Chamberlain: understandable, have a great day
Allies: “ummm whatcha got there” Germany: * has an army that very clearly defies the treaty of Versailles * Germany: “a smoothie”
"Timmy, I'm pulling you out of school." "But why, ma?" "I don't like that teacher of yours. Sounds like he's very extreme." "Oh, what's the worst he could do?"
I'm a 51 year old man that researches and writes history for a living and i cannot get enough of this channel...
“Hitler kinda shot himself in the foot for that... just the foot for now.” Now that’s what I call foreshadowing
If Napoleon saw how quickly France fell he’d be disappointed
This channel is the literal definition of quality over quantity
6:35 kinda scary resemblance to current world events.
WW2: start France: "don't worry we won WW1" Germany: took over France France: "don't worry were good at revolution"
Dude, if you were a teacher, everyone would like history.
Imagine seeing your elementary teacher becoming a dictator
Here's what I learned: whenever a strong personality champions a strong national identity, and says only they can fix everything, things turn out poorly. I think more people probably should have learned this by now.
"they only got a little and they felt cheated" that's a smooth way to say "Britain and France violated their treaty obligations and refused to let Italy take the territory they promised"
The way this dude says "Czechoslovakia" is so satisfying.
Europe: is at war Portugal, Ireland, Sweden, Spain and Switzerland: grabs some popcorn
7:51 Alongside the atrocities at Nanking, it’s worth nothing that, throughout the war, Japan had been conducting hundreds of thousands of experiments in germ warfare (among other things…) on human subjects. If you’ve got the stomach for it: look-up Unit 731 to get a bigger-picture of what Japan was doing in the background of this conflict.
