Personally i think they need to teach cult awareness in schools. Cults will never announce that they are, and yes you can end up in one unaware until it is too late. I believe making people aware and recognising the signs could benefit society greatly.

A friend of mine who suffered from severe depression all of her life got in her car one day and ran away just to get away from her nonexistent life (no husband or kids or joy in her heart.) I was one of her only true friends except for those in her church. She called me out of the blue a month later begging me to come get her. She was halfway across the country. She had fallen into a cult and they wouldn't let her leave. When I and four of my friends got there, it was fascinating in a bad way how the brainwashed members were so wholeheartedly obsessed with their leader and his rules and could not understand why she would want to leave. Thankfully, we got her away with resistance but without any major confrontations.

I grew up in a cult (none of the ones mentioned here) and honestly, it is so hard to leave. You truly believe that these people are speaking the truth. I remember being afraid because I had been taught my entire life that there was no such thing as happiness outside of the cult. Since I’ve left, I’ve been happier than I ever thought possible. But I don’t think there is ever a moment where you say ‘oh yeah, I’m in a cult’. I would think those that leave would do it because they can’t take it anymore.

The police never take stalking seriously until it's too late. It's not a crime until a crime is committed. They will tell you to get a restraining order, but a restraining order won't stop someone that is obsessed.

It's really sad that police doesn't do anything about stalking cases which could prevent plenty of devastating crimes including murders. Maybe they don't have evidence or anything to arrest a stalker or something but laws should be made. Not only children and women but also men get stalked and it's really bad.
