@pikapika13

The production and animation quality of these videos are next level.

@DanielKRui

There's just something unspeakably sad about seeing these rather cute animals/critters, with their cute broom-arms and tentacle-walkers, and then seeing people vacuuming up their entire world (which took millions of years to form). All that novel wonder, sucked dry, and for what? So a car can be made, to sit around most of the day, and to drive one person to and from work on a road a thousand other people are traveling in the exact same way, side-by-side a thousandfold, rolling forward in endless monotony.

@dominikdalek

The reality is that you don't need tons of EV cars. You need public transportation that draws electricity while it operates instead of wasting energy on moving vehicles with hundreds of kg of batteries. Optimizing for car transport today is like optimizing for horse carts in early XX century.

@B_dev

imagine chilling at the bottom of the ocean for years in the dark and suddenly some bigass glowing thing sucks you into a tube and then you are slowing boiled from the inside out as you are dragged inside it

@MekazaBitrusty

I can’t imagine any company caring about the environmental impact when their focus is on shareholder value. They will screw it up just like they do on land. It has already been shown that old mining sites that were ā€œrestoredā€ to their original condition lacked a lot of species of ants that were there before mining started.

@checker4714

I have a feeling that mining these nodules is going to be another regrettable move by humankind despite the positive short term impact.

@hstater2

This video is one of the best looking YouTube videos I’ve ever seen. Whoever is doing your design work is incredible

@kylefoster289

Deep-sea biology student here. Just subscribed to this channel off the last video and now you're covering my field, which I found funny! Many familiar names and faces in this video. Love it

@oasntet

Ugh, we're going to tear through those modules in a decade and utterly destroy another ecosystem, and it'll be another decade before we finally learn about all of the species we forced into extinction in the process. All to maintain the illusion that cars are not just a good idea, but necessary.

@skeletonboxers7336

one thing you didnt raise is that the nodules actually electrochemically produce oxygen in the water, very slowly, and passively, it is a form of dark oxygen for the environment because it doesnt require light, this may be why you dont see many species return as they rely on that as a source of oxygen in the environment. thats why there are lots of animals there with no other means of producing oxygen after all those animals respirate.

@B_dev

ah yes, this definitely isnt the next unsustainable resource

@madhavdhilip

More than electric cars, public transport like trains and buses will have a bigger impact on the overall emissions. We should stop thinking of "the car" as the default mode of transport.

@mrcsrkcrz

Sad that most seem to just accept we might start doing the same mistake we've always done in history, of messing with untouched Environments we barely understand, for temporary gains, instead of focusing on Innovation. Public transportation, renewable energy + renewable battery materials should be our goals instead. But oh we could invest millions to get a material which is limited, took millions of years to form and life of millions of creatures are based around that Environment. Imagine "Alien spaceships"would come to earth to "only" remove all the trees, but leave us in "peace". That's what were thinking of doing.

@Lin_The_Cat_

As someone who loves deep sea life, it's been one of my fixations for several years now, I can't begin to express the magnitude of my gratitude for y'all bringing this important issue to the public eye. It's been causing me a lot of distress, especially now that he who shall not be named is planning to gut the EPA, a bureau that was introduced by a president who was member of their own party (Nixon), ironically enough.

@ag-kp5fu

Loved the sea shanty!

@oblivious_waffle

the production quality of this is sooooooooooo good

@dan7805

Hi, I just wanted to say that I like your channel. The visuals are pretty, the vibe is fun, and you both seem like you're having a blast. Keep up the good work!

@David.77

16:55 17:23 Do we need more electric car batteries, or do we need to move away from ICE cars? Are electric cars the best solution to move away from fossil fuels? My point is that electric cars only help a few Americans, while convenient, well-maintained public transportation helps most Americans.
You guys should make a video on public transportation.
