Huge omission is the partner must be treated too or will be reinfected. Risk of STI goes up exponentially with number of partners your partner has had. Best prevention is honest communication and diligent barrier protection which less embarrassing than treatment

I got sexually assaulted by an ex boyfriend 3 years ago and since than I wasn’t really that sexually active and the times I was I always used protection and no bodily fluids were exchanged. I got tested for STDs and STIs and nothing. Now go to present me where I was recently diagnosed with genital herpes I got very emotional when I first heard the news I actually cried myself to sleep out of shame and embarrassment any remains of my dignity I once had where stripped away from me right there and the worst part is there’s no cure and the infection will stay in my body forever I always had a lingering fear that I caught something the day I was sexually assaulted and I know in rare cases the infection can lie dormant in your body for months and even years and my theory is I had it in my body for awhile but it was undetectable and now 3 years later I started showing symptoms.

So, if I am understanding this right, if both partners get tested and don’t have STIs, they should be good with each other. That NOTHING would happen since they are CLEARED and it’s ONLY them doing things.

This tiny blurb shows us how very paltry education is about a VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. I am waiting STILL, to hear HIW MANY INFECTIONS STI EXIST!!! No one mentions the incurable HERPES HSV2 infection, or genital crabs. 🦀 or nits. I want to hear a COUNT of how many sti exist and details of how each is tested and what the money costs are. Jeez…😢
