There is much more to getting a smooth, good image quality wirelessly. There is some sort of major update. You need at least a Wi-Fi 6 router.

Virtual desktop is still better, way more options and configs. Hand tracking support. Steam link still has some stuff to add to be better. Plus I prefer supporting small devs.

Virtual Desktop > Steam Link every day. Anyone who is an actual PC gamer who understands codecs, bitrate and latency already knows this. Steamlink is trash, dont waste your time.

I got VTOL VR recently and used steam link first and it was very pixelated compared to virtual desktop but I’m pretty sure it’s because of the network adapter I have currently

Bottom to top.... Oculus link, Steam VR, Virtual Desktop. I tried all 3 and I'm so happy I got VD for about 12 EUR on discount. Not so "new challenger" anymore, challenger, yes, I'll give it that.

Please note that this only works with the Windows Steam client and will not work with either the macOS or Linux Steam clients. You will need to use ALVR as it is the only option which works on Linux. macOS your SOL As even the highest-powered macOS devices cannot handle VR.
