david tennant does a fantastic soliloquy in much ado about nothing as benedick, and while he is very much talking to himself, hes also almost talking to the audience. by directly acknowledging them, it enhances the humour in the scene. ive seen this several times in comedic plays, actors breaking the fourth wall in what would otherwise be a straight soliloquy for comedic effect. but i doubt this would work in a serious play, as it would break the tension and seem goofy. do you have any advice for what one should do with their body during a soliloquy? ive heard conflicting things, that one should never just stand there talking (at least for assessed solo work in school), but also that you should avoid moving during a soliloquy. whats your take?
