Keeping the old exterior was definitely THE move, its giving "dont judge a book by its cover" soo creativeeee
The tiny home looks amazing, but I'm worried about 3 things in the tiny home. 1) Ventilation, you still need airflow so that you don't run out of oxygen. 2) Leaks from the walls or roof. A big storm could damage it. 3) Not sure if the foundation will hold everything up long term. Everything inside got a lot heavier with the tiles + wood and one of the beams got cut already. Edt: The AC is a single hose system which cools the air and pushes the hot air out. But when it does that, it creates negative pressure and would pull the hot outside air in through the cracks. There is still no ventilation when the ac is off. And when the ac is on, it also pulls in hot outside air. I'm sure it will still cool the room, it's just a lot less efficient during a hot day.
I would like to see a follow up in a year to see how the shed stood up.
Not re-doing the exterior is going to be the reason why the elements absolutely DESTROY the interior of this shed. In addition to no vapor barrier, no weather barrier, and a ton of other things... but looks like it was a fun project
"What I'm not is a professional, but what I am is done." is probably one of the best lines i have ever heared
As much as this is satisfying to watch, I do agree with some comments that it has some issues.
This is very cool and an amazing amount of work but I think you should have dismantled the old shed, placed a new shed with a solid foundation, made it the tiny home, and then used the old shed boards as an exterior so it still looks like an old shed.
Who agrees Chay's dad is so chill bro
It’s awesome that you have been able to make a better life for your family with your content. I remember thinking your dad looked completely worn out in early videos and he looks contented now. Good for y’all.
It's amazing how the really old abandoned shed was built on brand new lumber.. the skills of the older generation carpenters and their materials is impressive
This Is really awesome, I see the issues here and there though. 1: No shower. 2: No vapor barrier BIG issue since it's wooden from outside, leaks could go inside, big no no for a smart home. 3: Architechturally and structurally wrong build, I think taking apart the shed and rebuilding it into a mini home of the same space would've been better, even better if the space was a tiny bit more extended for a shower. over-all a really fun and nice idea, this could actually be an awesome house if done right for a person who needs to save up money and is working on a big project while saving upmost money, just buy a laptop, and the kitchen extra space could become a desk + kitchen space, awesome. I think with a bit of extending, a shower, vapor barrier, moisture barrier, maybe even adding a small yard with manual excavation to make the dirt straight, and making a small greenhouse with plants so you can easily eat, maybe lettuce, cabbage, cucumber, zucchini, tomato, some herbs, and you're set. with those changes above and a few tweaks that's easily a minimalist budget life that works for 1-2 people for maximum money saving till you become a multi-millionaire, and investing + multiple stuff could work.
really enjoyed this ad— I mean video
props to whoever built the original shed, im surprised that old wood floor could support all of the new stuff
Amazing! My only worry is that I saw light coming through from the old roof. Please tell me that you fixed the old roof so you won't destroy the great work you did inside the cabin. Truly enjoyed the video. Thanks!❤
0:14 he just sweared😂 5:45 pretty good? THATS LITERALLY FOUR TIMES FASTER THAN MY INTERNET 😂
this guy can turn anything into a luxurious home
i guess as long as code enforcement doesn't happen across this video, chay will be alright. sure did a lot of good interior work for a building that is not structurally sound.
Crazy work boys!!
