S2: If the allergy was temporary, it was unreasonable for the wife to demand to get rid of the cat. I don't necessarily agree with leaving the house altogether, but the cat's dander would have been everywhere, so maybe her leaving was wiser in the short term. The fact that she just dropped a geriatric cat at a shelter w/o a care makes her a much bigger monster to me. That whole situation sounds awful.
BRO THAT IS A SUPER SENIOR CAT! Thats the equivalent to an 80 year old human, Guys this cat can't just be rehomed it NEEDS desperate care! just finished the story :( yall this is probably a real story he did not make this up this cat is 16!!!!
I feel so bad for that cat, to spend its entire long life with its owner only to be dropped off in an unfamiliar place by their owner's partner. It had to have been so scared, and it died alone without it's human. Cats are pretty fragile in their old age and aren't very flexible to change, op is pretty commendable for at least trying to find a solution, it's kind of rare since so many people don't care for elderly cats.
I became severely allergic to dust when I was pregnant with my son. My neighbors were working on their apartment and the dust made it impossible to breathe. So I moved to mother's for three months, till they finished the renovation. No big deal, honestly.
they're literally PERFECT for each other 😭
The cat story makes me so mad. My husband had cats when I met him. We got a cat after we moved in together. We currently have 2 old lady cats that rule our house. I'm mildly allergic to cats. I checked with my Dr and made sure it was safe for me to continue to take daily antihistamines when I was pregnant. I cannot imagine giving away an elderly cat. She's the AH.
I understand the cat guy. If she's so allergic to the cat now, just all the cat hair and dander in their house is still going to greatly effect her. So them staying at parents house, or wife sucking it up for an additional two weeks and see how she does with just the leftover dander while not having the cat present seems like a fair compromise. Dropping an elder cat off at a shelter behind your partner's back is just diabolical.
I'm allergic to cats and I have two... I would never even think about getting rid of them. The wife in this story is actually diabolical in my opinion.
28:05 My sister is engaged to our stepdads adopted son. None of us grew up together so it’s a bit of a different situation but when the jokes inevitably pop up they’re both good sports about it and we’re ultimately all very happy for them. OP’s siblings need to get over it because this is gonna be the rest of their lives 😂
Sibbling marriage story: this is interesting! So her parents are divorced, mom got remarried and had more kids, dad got remarried and had more kids. So both family are related to op but definitely not to each other. It makes it just fine for op to say my 'siblings' are getting married because, yes both are definitely her siblings but the couple themselves aren't. How odd a predicament, I feel like the wedding guest list might be quite redundant.
She killed his cat, that's unforgivable.
Cat guy is NTA, imo. Our wife would know us well enough to not even think of asking us to rehome our cat in that situation. The cat is 16 YEARS OLD and has been with OP its entire life and deserves to be with him until it dies, and OP deserves to keep his dearly beloved companion he put so much love, time, and energy into. The cat doesn't know OP's parents or their house, so it'd be just as stressful as being rehomed to strangers. The allergies can be temporary and sometimes do go away after the pregnancy is over. She seriously couldn't just wait 2 more weeks? She's setting a vindictive precedent. A person who views pets as something that can just be gotten rid of without consideration for the animal or the person who cares for it isn't someone we'd trust as a parent. That's probably going "too far" for most people, but for us personally, we wouldn't trust that woman not to traumatize our kid by doing the same thing to something they love. "I can make anything and everything go away whenever I want, even if you love it. I don't care how much it hurts you, so don't get attached to anything" is a traumatizing thing to teach a child. Even as a grown adult, that message still comes through.
No hate but old cats can absolutely have heart attacks from stress. that poor cat was terrified and confused in his remaining moments and thats awful. getting rid of him at 16 years (with majority of that being with them) would have been a death sentence no matter where he went. The average adult cat has the emotional maturity of a 2.5 year old. that we know of, that are capable of feeling: -sadness -disgust -surprise -fear -happiness -anger if you wouldnt do it to a toddler, i would think heavily on if its ethical to do to a cat. - i have a ~22 year old kitty. elder kitties are fragile. look up anything you dont believe.
0:27 me and my hubby stimming together lol. Love the happiness yall bring each other. Me and hubby will randomly start singing or making stupid noises throughout the house. Happy we arent alone lol ❤😂
The fact that they match eachothers energy so well is amazing and i love it so much 🥹🥹
Dude, if I was the guy with the cat, whose wife gave it to the shelter and it died, I would divorce my wife. I’d be f***ing furious. I had a cat that lived to be almost 20 years old. He was my best friend and I would’ve given him a house too. And yes I am a crazy cat lady so I factor that into my life by not having kids.
Using somebody else's bath without getting confirmation is INSANE.
20:13 yesterday (New Zealand) was my first mother's day. My husband got me a custom-made clock with a picture of our daughter and I. His mum told him not to do anything for him because I'm his priority now, and we're short on money. He still sent her card from us and video called her. He said we're the priority, but his mum's still the woman who gave him life and will always deserve appreciation. I chose the right man to marry and make a father 🥰
My fiancé is allergic to cats, I have 2. They came before him, he takes antihistamines every day & because cats showed up on an allergy test, his GP prescribes the antihistamines, so they’re free. I’m also pregnant and if I became allergic to cats, I also would take antihistamines every day. Not for a second would I consider getting rid of my cats. It would destroy me.
