You know, so many people get so hung up by what Bakugo said in the first episode, they tend to forget how much he's grown, and how much he dose actually care for Deku. There is a legitimate honest reason people love that due so much.

Truth is he doesn’t hate deku, in fact they were friends, but he realized deku don’t fit in with his crowd, he wanted to be a part of, and bevy deku still saw him as a friend even though bakugo treated him lower and with disrespect, he hated himself for treating him that way. He was afraid of his own selfishness for it. After deku gets a quirk he felt jealousy be used now he realizes deku ain’t going to view him with the inspiration and admiration he once had for him when they were younger ( even after how bad bakugo treated him). But deku never stopped seeing bakugo as an inspiration which is why he always strived to help bakugo and everyone else or even not get them involved with his problems later on in the series. Their friendship is a developing inspiration.
