Cool hat

@alicegaiba

I agree so much with this. I've recently started crocheting and I dread talking about it with people in real life because I'm so afraid they'll ask me why I don't sell it and make it my job (since I'm currently jobless). People who don't crochet don't realise how much I'd have to charge for the things that I make to make it profitable and no one would be willing to pay that much money for a garment that's not high fashion

@kimbrolyy

People are so used to seeing influencers that they forget not everyone has to become one

@magatsuventi

if i had a dollar for every etsy 3D printed bullshit shop i’ve seen id be very wealthy

@jippalippa

I was there in the first days of youtube, and back then it was ALL about making videos for fun.
No copyright dictatorship, no censorship, no money orbiting around youtube, no scammy sponsors.
So many classics from 2006-2007 :,>

@lyricperson24

my great uncle has been paying me to sit with his wife (she has dementia) while he’s at work. i have a lot of free time while doing this to craft (currently crochet), and while i HAVE done some events and sold some of the things i make, i’m mostly just out here making things i’d like to see or learning a new technique rather than having to approach it as something i HAVE to make money with (something i am incredibly lucky to be able to do!!!). so then tell me why this man is always asking about what i’m working on and follows it up with “…and people are going to BUY this?”, then laughing at me when my answer is just “i hope so!”, or when he asks what i’m going to do with a project and i tell him i don’t know yet. like. my brother in christ you have a garage full of antique firefighter tools that you work on restoring, FOR FUN, with no intention of making money from it so i KNOW you understand that profit isn’t the only thing that motivates people to do things 😂

@Carnelust

It's also worth noting that when you try to make money from your hobbies, they're not hobbies anymore, it's work. You can really end up crushing your passion for things once they've become a necessity rather than something you do just because it makes you happy. If something goes from doing it because you want to do it to doing it because you have to do it you'll just end up miserable.

@jdizzy192

I used to draw all the time and dealt with my family constantly asking why I don't try to do it professionally. Was smart in school and get asked why I work st a waffle house. Now I'm 30 with a healthly relationship(minus the league of legends) and stable well paying job and a healthy son(minus him enjoying watching me playing league of legends)

Life is dull and stressful when everything is a competition. Yeah, be ambitious, but dont let ambition blind you to what ya got and enjoy rn

@fatimakartal6248

I actively went against studying art in college, everyone told me I should do what I love but also make it my job. To this day I am thankful I never listened, I don't think depending my life situation on my art career would've ever made me happy

@AndreasSheittanis

I saw your YouTube sponsor scams video and I immediately subscribed because I instantly felt that you were doing this because you genuinely love it.
Happy to support you man, wishing you best of luck!

Me after buying 350 fidget spinners realizing it’s not 2017 anymore and people don’t buy them anymore:

@nikibordeaux

People seem to forget what a hobby is: It's what you do outside of your actual job. If the hobby becomes your job, it's not a hobby anymore.

THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN MONEY 🗣️🗣️🗣️

@lucaswenzel1765

Whenever I show my family my music...
They don't say "this is good"
They say "this is good enough to make money with, you should go pro"
Thanks for making this video.
I already knew I'm not alone with this problem but actually hearing someone talk about it helps :)

@thebeshortedcellist8182

My mum has been knitting for years. She makes clothes and blankets for any family friends having kids.
Since a couple of relatives passed who had boxes of wool, she's started selling at a couple fairs. But it's not about the money, it's just giving a reason to do more of what she enjoys when sat at home.

@chelsey8737

I'm a huge reader and I have largely existed primarily in reading spaces online for years but stopped participating in reader spaces recently. Im tired of people reading trendy books just so that they can stay on top of the algorithms and I'm tired of watching them complain that they're not making as much money or they have to take more sponsorships now or they don't get as much engagement anymore. I'm here to listen to you talk about a book that you really hated or really loved, I want to know what analysis you have of it, and I want to feel your love of reading through the screen, not watching you devolve into grind/hudtle/content culture. Reducing reading, and any hobby generally, is antithetical to what it does for so many people. Reading is an escape and an emotional outlet and teaches people to be more empathetic and more open-minded and understand other points of view but when you reduce it to nothing but making money it quickly becomes lifeless and joyless and useless.

@domsdiary_

bro thought we wouldnt notice the peak playing in the back, love bomb rush cyberfunk 🙏🙏

@theguy5579

oh yeah? what if my hobby is cheating on my wife? what if my hobby is stealing? yeah?

@fall1n1_yt

My way of life is:
>Work the least amount of hours possible for the maximum amount of money
>Spend the vast majority of my days doing things I like

Since I manage to live comfortably, I am not gonna waste valuable hours of my life either working more at my job or starting side hustles.

Con-artists like Tate have ruined a lot of people making them believe that you should just work, work, work. Just make more money bro... IDK, I prefer when I am on my death bed to have happy memories than money.
