I did my first track day the summer of Covid 2020 on my MT-10 at 45yo. I wanted to gain braking and cornering skills. I got bit hard and now I’m addicted to that sweet “Track-Crack”. I converted one bike from street to track then rebuilt a salvaged auction bike into a race machine.

What I considered fast that first day, is now not even a cool down lap speed. I just graduated from my novice race license to expert, got a few hole shots, consistently hit new PB lap times each race and landed on the podium (2nd) out of 26. My skills and confidence have grown exponentially and I’m now more confident on track and on the street. I learned more on that first track day than I did in 10 years of street riding.

I initially went to the track with one and only one goal, to get my knee down. I wanted to do that because it looks so cool! Funny enough, I did not manage to do it on the track (I've been there twice now) but in a car park. The good thing is that now I've got it checked off my list. Next time when I go to the track, I will be more focus on the important stuff.

I think it made me a better street rider. Because I learned that it's not the bike it's myself and my fears. Fear of braking, leaning....like "can my tires actually do this??" So ya being able to push through some barriers on the track and realize the bike can do this all day made me feel better on the street. My goal will be to do 2 days a summer.

I just did my first track day ever with PRE at CMP a few weeks ago. At 58 years old, I’m wondering why I never did it before. I’ll be back to CMP Aug 10-11 and at the end of September. I am hooked!!!

@04702c

I about sent a message today asking you when we were going to get some new content. Thank you. FYI…Completed the first Track day and chose the zx4rr over the rd 660 The day was amazing. Nerves were high pretty bad early but by the 4th session I was getting more comfortable. Actually dragged knee at some point in the day according to pucks. 😂 I don’t know when or where though. The most difficult parts of the day was I realized that the novice group has a hard time following instruction it seemed, also getting use to throttle and front break control with the racing gloves and finally and the hardest…. trusting the tires. Thanks for all your help and the email . Btw the last video, my wife came into the living room all abruptly and said……” Is that guy talking about you?? Thank you for video. I just hate season is coming to end. Any suggestions for winter time riding locations you may attend?
