For those who don’t know, Leuke is a nymph who Hades loved and brought to the underworld. She lived there for the rest of her days and Hades turned her into the white poplar tree after her death.
Had so much fun voicing both Hades & Hephaestus! Thanks so much for the support everyone ❤️
Hey everyone! This is Ivy Dupler, the voice of Minthe! Thank you SO MUCH for your support & love for the show, I hope you enjoy watching Minthe as much as I enjoyed voicing her! 🎙️💚🌿🥰
For those of you wondering, Leuke (the white haired nymph who was petting Cerberus) was a daughter of the Titan Oceanus. Hades fell in love with her and abducted her to the underworld. She lived out the span of her life in his realm, and when she died, the god turned her into a white poplar which he placed in the Elysian Fields. To celebrate his return from the underworld, the hero Heracles crowned himself with a branch of this tree. As for Minthe, she is an Underworld Naiad nymph associated with the river Cocytus. She was beloved by Hades, the King of the Underworld, and became his mistress/concubine, but she was transformed into a mint plant by either his wife Persephone or his sister and mother-in-law Demeter. According to Oppian, Minthe had been Hades' mistress before he abducted and married Persephone, but he set her aside once he carried off and married his queen. Afterwards, she would boast that she surpassed Persephone in beauty and that Hades would soon return to her; in anger over the nymph's insolence, Persephone's mother Demeter trampled her, and thus from the earth sprang the mint herb. Oppian writing that she was trampled to death is perhaps an allusion to the verb μινύθω, minytho, meaning "to reduce." Orpheus wrote that Demeter, seeing the mint sad, hated it, and made it barren. Lastly, exactly how is Hades Charon's protégé? Charon SERVES Hades after Hades became ruler of the Underworld and Charon ferries the dead across the River Styx?
It’s definitely pretty interesting seeing how Minthe acts when she was first introduced vs how she acted when Hades first met her. Also I didn’t know who Leuke was until I looked her up
Aaaw! Cerberus is so cute! It’s so interesting to see how different Minthe acts here compared how she treats Persephone. I love how Hades is Charon‘s protege.
Let's be honest. We're waiting for the Hadesephone ship to start smooth sailing.
This show continues to floor me with how beautiful the animation and voice acting both are! 😊 Can't wait for the next episode
It's so sweet to see Hades represented as a nice and sensitive guy and not as a cruel and heartless demon for a change.
For those wondering why Cerberus didn’t like Minthe - normal mint in small doses is fine but pennyroyal mint is deadly to dogs. Found this series on a whim- four months back. Worth the wait ❤❤
I can’t wait to see Poseidon fall in love with Amphitrite, Poseidon here is like a supportive excitable and kinda clueless puppy and I wanna see a bit more of him, and he’s really supportive and loving of his brothers. But this animation is incredible and I love the storytelling!
I hope that we get Hades and Persephone's story, the best couple in Greek mythology some day💖💖💖
A new version of Minthe's story.. I like it. The version I knew was that Hades were already betrothed to Persephone as he met Minthe at the river Nyx. Persephone saw them together, became jealous and transformed her into weed. Hades softed her 'curse' and gave her an inpacable smell and taste. Possible context of the situations: • Persephone and Hades were already betrothed but not in love yet. She tried to make it work, and was angered because of what she witnessed. He didn't try. She had to leave home and spend eternity with someone who doesn't care. • Persephone was already in love with Hades, but he was crushing on someone else • They were already in love, and he cheated • Minthe made a move on Hades, and wanted to assault him. Persephone saved him and transformed her into weed. He thought this wasn't enough and gave her impacable smell, taste, but super annoyingly, thick, large roots. You can't get rid of them, and they take all the nutrients of all the plants nearby. As a reminder of the assault. It hurts when you try to get rid of mint. You pull, you chop and tear it apart. As an empath I feel the pain. That's why I think this context theory makes sense. A male god assaulted, you won't read that in a book. The story gets watered down, changed and the blame gets someone else. What do you think?
i love how Poseidon is literally like the excited younger brother even tho he is like the second oldest XD he is literally my favorite✨
I know we all want Persephone but this is necessary context and any Gods school episode is like a great gift. The voice acting is so good!!! And the animation so lived and the world design and characters are so pleasing to watch thank you so much
2:49 even the digs are confused
This was wholesome. So cute to see them awkwardly flirting. So precious! Also I now require a Cerberus plush.
I Hope that we get some more Hephaestus and Aphrodite stuff some day ❤
I like the detail of Cerberus not liking Minthe, sensing something in her. Probably i'm overthinking.
