I love how they wrote him. He clearly “hated” his sister and yet he couldn’t stop himself from protecting and providing her. His paternal instincts kicked in and he knew he had to protect her no matter how much he hated her.

Honestly, even though Billy is such a bad person, hes still one of my favorite characters. I mean his whole character arc is written so well, and his back story really shows why hes like this. Plus hes just a played amazingly

I know Steve is everyone's favorite babysitter, but people forget that Billy was also a babysitter. Reluctantly, of course, but effective: he stayed home with her all day just to watch her until their parents arrived, he drove her to and from video games, he waited for Max after school sometimes for a long time to take her home, he worried about her when he thought someone might be bothering her (in his twisted mind, Lucas was a threat), and when he had to, he went out at night looking for her asking door to door until he found her, and had it not been for herself and her injection, he surely would have brought her back home safe and sound. Perhaps in season 5 we will see that despite having a terrible father and becoming harsh and even cruel, Billy really loved Max and just wanted to protect her.
