Damn, you really had to remind me that our events went from that virtual Pokemon championship to...Chimera conga line simulator.
Also them getting rid of the companion quests... Instead, now they shove character information into the main story instead of having a separate quest for it. So it bloats the main story even more...
They found their core audience and now it's time to milk them.
2:21 don't worry they changed it now we have white screen and black text HAIL HOYO HAIL HSR HAIL DEVS
As a former Honkai Impact 3rd player, i hate to say this but HSR is currently going down the very same path as HI3rd is and it's not good. The fomo inducing spending events, bloated stories, insane powercreep, lack of new A rank characters. Oh also HSR devs said they will he buffing old characters? Well in HI3rd they also "buffed" old characters by giving them an entirely new moveset and more damage output, BUT you HAVE TO PULL for an entirely new signature weapon to get the "buff". Yes the "buff" is locked behind gacha/paywall. It's actually insane. And yeah the new signature weapon is practically making the old signature weapon is useless. So I won't be surprised if they'd do a similar thing in HSR.
I will never forget how me and my friends reacted when the Cocolia boss fight song played or when DHIL parted the waters or the time Acheron split the sky open. I have been chasing that high ever since
Finally someone pointed out the drop in quality for events. I mostly hear about the story and powercreep but events are just as important. Events are the reason why I keep playing after completing the story but now I don't wanna play them. We went from managing a museum to that boring chimera event.
The story just feels like a marketing ploy for new characters and that's it. You can't feel invested in a character because they will disappear after their banner ends (95% of characters) I still want to know more about Luocha/Jingliu. The last HYPE moment I had was the Yanqing/Jingliu moment when they fought Hoolay.
It definitely didn't feel the same going into amphoreus as it did going into penacony. Like I now people still have a lot of complaints with penacony's story, but the reveal of who sam was, adventurine's backstory, acheron cutting through the dream bubble, I could go on. There were just so many good and hype moments with penacony and I just feel like with amphorues it just doesn't have those moments and maybe this comment won't age well( I hope so), but so far it just hasn't.
I’m loving the amphoreus story that isn’t what I’m mad about I’m just mad at these mediocre events, what ever happened to fun events like aetherium wars as well as companion missions. Another anything thing is the fact the dev won’t ever release new 4 stars so there’s nothing to look forward to reward wise
End of penaconey killed me tbh. No real stakes, storytelling issues becoming real apparent, no sparkle payoff, and getting rid of companion quests in favor of just throwing them into the story to sell the on banner character. Loufu part 2 had some of the same but felt more enjoyable overall. Wardance event though was amazing! Bringing back and developing old characters like luka and yanqing. Then they nose dived with rappa, whos story is a legit diamond in the rough that is the dumb banana meme stuff. I forgot about fugue and sunday lmao. Amphoreus seems like its a decent step up, but still the same storytelling problems along with general problems and burnout with the game itself just being at an all time high has kinda killed a LOT of hype for it.
For me, it's weird that there isn't a single banner four-star in Amphoreus. It's almost claustrophobic and lonely despite being a new big world. ZZZ hit its prime and presentation is at a pretty consistent high. Missing voices and some pretty low energy whenenever tribbie isn't there doesn't help either. And fewer big events and no companion missions is rough, making it feel even smaller and lonelier. New character releases also just feel so unhealthy. Like, remembrance is sloppy and exploitative in design, but not having a banner four-star remembrance at launch is wild I still like the characters, and I still like the story. And I like some of these banner changes, but good lord it's exhausting
What upsets me the most is that is is exactly how hoyoverse wants this game to be. So we cannot expect any meaningful improvement unless the company decides to invest some money back into hsr instead of doing the bare minimum while inflating monetization.
I miss Belobog gameplay. Now I'm just watching Hsr cutscenes and chatting for the entire patch. Meanwhile in Okhlema At the same time Before the event
Can we talk about how most of the rewards are in the spending event?
The story, their narration and style took such a sharp turn that star rail got simply derailed. Now it feels like a different game, am I still playing Honkai: Star Rail? Who are all those titans, crysos heirs or flame-chasers or whatever they are called? Hsr had a fundamental lore with aeons and paths, but the lore of amphoreus is completely different and feels like isn't even necessary at all. And for 3 entire versions there is literally 0 progress on making way out or getting in touch with the rest of the crew. Sure characters are designed well, their stories are good, but the question is "so what?", if everyone is a main character then nobody is main character. And the powercreep, hp inflation, etc. It is pointless to complain, they want money, that's obvious. And in 3.2 they just straight up admit it: anniversary shop, whale currencies and 25000 oneiric shard marathon, global passive. So I've been consistently playing hsr, investing into characters, and I went from 0 cycling with firefly a year ago to not even being able to clear moc. 2 years of effort are totally wasted despite decent luck. Thanks hoyo, this is the best anniversary
I think the introduction of the Remembrance Path is the least fun I've had with HSR. Instead of finding new ways to make Hunt just as useful as Erudition, they made a new path that does everything. Ignoring Castorice's global, she should be a destruction but her dragon can hit all enemies, so she's a Erudition but unlike Firefly and Blade who can heal themselves, Castorice can heal the entire team. Jingliu had team drain, but she couldn't give it back. Hunt is dead in the water, Nihility is still in an identity crisis, Preservation is beyond barren compared to abundance and Remembrance is just saying fuck it. You can do everything and spawn a 5th teammate. As a story and lore enjoyer it makes it so much harder as every other path seems useless compared to Rememberance. I don't see why MemC couldn't have been a Harmony unit, their isn't a rule saying the protag can't double up down a path. Then the new path could have been Elation, and units like Kafka and Swan could be moved there and making that the Dot path while Nihility got more focused on debuffs that competed with Harmony.
I agree dude Penacony was so good, I genuinely didn’t skip through a single line of dialogue & didn’t even stop to farm or do other missions until the whole thing wrapped up. Plus Robin singing during the final boss fight, and on the ship when sparkle did her bomb dolls and firefly was gonna sacrifice herself but it ended up being fireworks, Penacony was so memorable.
the fact that this game used to hit over and over again with banger moments, content, events, characters, everything. it really rouses the tin foil hat on my head that the game just had a severe budget cut and that they're diverting resources to the next big hoyo game to clarify that this is just a wild guess in my own head, but there HAS to be a reason why there's entire cutscenes you spend in Amphoreus where you just stare at the back of people's heads for 7 minutes. i know they can do better than this, i'd just really like to know how it's gotten to this point. The issue isn't revenue, the game is still earning a lot
