The only reason cryo has fell off is the lack of not only support but at least a good dedicated off field sub dps and enemies that are ineffective with freeze. We only have a hydro sub dps aka yelan/xinqiu/furina. But freeze became useless when they decided to put more bosses instead. Melt is being held back due to the lack of pyro applicators and the only cryo support we currently have is shenhe which she is 5* locked through constellation and mihoyos basement. Theres superconduct too in which we dont talk about that.

Cryo reactions need a rework. Freeze becomes Frost; let it slow the enemy instead of hard CC, so that no enemy is allowed to be immune, and more Frost procs will stack and increase the strength of the slow. Superconduct should be an intermediate reaction like Quicken; it will amplify the damage of the next reaction applied to it. Shatter should reduce enemy DEF.

Melt has the same multipliers as Vape so theoretically it should be just as good. The problem is that Melt lacks the proper supports. What it needs is basically a Pyro Xinqiu/Yelan who has very fast Pyro application so that a Cryo melee DPS can capitalize. Also probably needs an artifact set centered around Melt damage because the current Cryo set completely centers around Freeze.

people always make the mistake of considering an element = their characters. Navia and Xilonen doesn't make Geo good, they're just good characters, but none of their merit lie on geo's strengths at all. Cryo is a nasty case because it's a good element that simply doesn't have much characters that take advantage of it, specially with so much potential unfulfilled to this day, and they making freeze useless on bosses as well, a stupid design decision.

Snezhnaya will definitely change Cryo for the better. I still think Geo’s core design as an element is the most badly designed. Cryo’s design as an element is leaps & bounds better than Geo.

Make a Cryo Chevreuse for Freeze. Party needs Cryo and Hydro only. Increase the freeze duration, gain dmg buff, and reduce hydro and cryo resistance when triggering freeze. Allow bosses to be frozen for a short period of time with a 20-second cooldown. Make Freeze Great Again.

I personally think Geo is still the worst element from a design perspective, but at the very least, it has retained a solid presence in the recent meta thanks to strong characters (Navia, Xilonen) and new artifact sets that synergize with Crystallize (Echoing Woods, Scroll of Ancient Hero). Cryo has had virtually nothing new to enhance its gameplay and reactions since Blizzard Strayer, and its characters are now more well known for not having reruns (Eula, Shenhe, Wriothesley). 💀

Im a Wriothesley main but whenever someone points out the QoL constellation, I can't help but agree ;-; Wrio is not the first character to be released with an issue that can be fixed with buying constellations which sucks SPECIFICALLY now because after their release, Cryo 5 stars get thrown in Hoyo's dungeon to never have a rerun again. And I'm honestly so interested on why the rerun banners are being handled this way. Is it because Cryo's been lacking since Inazuma? Is it because the banners don't sell well, or something? Why even make Cryo characters then? We have another coming up in Natlan. Is she going to get the same treatment? Also, Hoyo quite literally controls the climate and whether characters will be useful or not. This is quite actually their fault, but for some reason, we're being punished with a lack of reruns! I wanted to c6 Wriothesley next time he came around and maybe snag Shnehe too, but shit, idk when that'll be. I gotta wait another year until Snezhnaya? BOOOOOO!!!

I am thinking about Wriothesley's situation, his kit was designed around a not ideal character for him, which is Furina. If he was designed to be a freeze character, he could be a freaking monster. But his design I would say It is more about melt and Hypercarry. Unfortunately his melt team usually needs bennett and xiangling, which are 2 slots taken and a buffer character (btw, buffing with kazuha is not optimal tbh), which is usually Furina, but Furina just bothers Wriothesley's team, stealing reactions and applying hydro. I think a really strong Wriothesley's team might be released with xilonen and mavuika, where he can be something like a Melt Hypercarry. Something like Wrio/Xilonen/Mavuika/(emilie/shenhe/furina [she will steal reactions]).
