@TWD98

I always watch the World Records day 1 any time a new Mario Kart comes out and they've never looked anywhere near this crazy before...

I love how the records are changing so fast that Troy's video and Nick's video are totally different

@agentogames

1:01:59 About the boost on Starview Peak: this is actually a boost that's constantly applied on this section of the track, just like the lightning on Bowser's Castle! Notice how the flames from the glider trick fade out before the blue flames show up. The blue flames are boosts applied by the track. The same thing happens on certain sections of Rainbow Road, too.

Edit after watching the Rainbow Road reaction: No player input is required for the track boosts. Think of it more like anti-gravity, when a player enters the designated zone, it turns on. When they leave, it turns off.

@General12th

Imagine if time trials gave you a choice between starting with three mushrooms versus starting with three feathers. Which would be more useful for certain tracks?

@nathanblackburn1193

Some tracks have these "high speed" sections that make you drive faster, Bowser's Castle, Starview Peak and Rainbow Road all have prominent sections of this, it's not a "tech" just regular game mechanics

@Rickby

I know it’s only been a day, but I love the variety of characters setting records, instead of it just being a Funky/Daisy, Waluigi/Yoshi situation. Anyone can thrive in this game (so far)!!

@tau93

50:17 is when Troy talks about Dino Dino Jungle, in case anyone was wondering!

@Oshamon

Extrapolating from how different weight classes work in previous games, I think lighter characters get more of a boost from tricks so are better suited for the more technical tracks whilst the heavier characters have a higher top speed and therefore do better in the less trick heavy tracks.

@Irrlusfml

I'm not seeing enough praise for it , but holy moly the new Rainbow Road is just incredible. They really said let's just combine all rainbow roads ever and just add on to it too, IT'S PERFECT !!!!

@reifuTD

This gameplay looks like something you'd see out of a Sonic game with him flipping, drifting and bounding off rails.

@PsychoPenguin1919

It's a shame these awesome 3 lap tracks only show up 25% of the time online. Pretty interested to hear your thoughts on having no dedicated 3 lap mode in online versus.

@Snail_Lord75

36:08 because the max coin count in this game is double what it is in mk8dx but the overall speed boost you get is the same coins are essentially half of what they were before, and it’s also way harder to get to max, so it’s generally not worth it

@SportsGaming-ll3ru

Also pretty cool that light weights might be the meta, it’s all I’ve been hoping for, it looks like the maps with lots of rail riding and tricking vastly benefit lightweights too

@Zoova

43:20 I think the choice to make them ghosts in the record replays is smart because it doesn't let anyone steal footage and fake credit.

@DJ_Sango_

15:34 hey, there i am! i was wondering if i made it on the leaderboard. hopefully i can shave my time down soon haha
