The universe is NOT homogenous. For example, consider Dark Flow, the linear movement of galaxies toward an unknown mass that we can't see yet. Consider also the regions of low mass and few galaxies in the cosmic infrared background, places into which galaxies don't seem to move. These inconsistencies are not on huge scales compared to the universe as a whole, but they are there.
