The reason you don't risk petting strays is simply Rabies. Many places actually offer free rabies vaccines for local citizens at their health center because of the problem. There are plenty of clinics that offer vaccines at cost for non residents, and that includes all hospitals.

Stray dogs in the Philippines. Don't mind them and they won't mind you. It's why we have animal bite clinics in every corner coz some people don't know this rule.

If you're riding a jeepney in the Philippines beware of the ones travelling to/from Cubao. Those guys drive like they're on Fast and the Furious

As a filipino i would like to say that its best to ready yourself when the driver drives fast whether be jeep, bus or motorbike cuz when you pass on top of a bump you will literally fly off the vehicle. I lost count on how many times i almost lost my fell off. I even bumped my head on the roof of the jeep and ended up on the free sit beside me when the bus i was on hit a bump.😅

Reasons why u should dont and do: 1.The dog one NEVER EVER EVER pet those dogs yk why? They have rabies and can bite you faster then you can react. 2.This is true because you should just ride a motorcycle because your a small little rider and can take short cuts when its traffic but you can use a car but its more traffic. 3.YES WE DONT USE TOILET PAPERS because we have a tabo for a reason to wet your bum bum so its CLEAN Hope this helped pookies 😉❤

Also, wear shower caps when using motorcycle services, the riders offer them, IIRC, so DON'T pass on it when they offer it to you, and ask them if they don't. It will protect your hair from potential lice.

Caged pets are a lot more aggressive than strays, since the strays are more sociable. Feed them, and they’ll protect you in dark streets (if it’s in their territory). However don’t pet them, as they can still have rabies. 99% of the time they won’t bite unprovoked though.

True you shouldn’t pet dogs but if you’re lucky in Sagada you can practically pet the strays there because it’s most likely they’re friendly or just scared (probably owned/taken care by someone and is allowed to roam around). I’ve pet the strays there dogs there before and it’s fine, just make sure to wash your hands bc of the ticks
